Sparkle & Glitter!! Napkin Cards

napkin glitter card ho ho ho

I went a little nuts last night with glitter and napkins!

When I first started seeing these glitter napkin cards, I poo-poo’d them thinking cards made of napkins take no talent, no effort, no creativity……

Then I went to a class where we made one recently.  I almost didn’t go, because I didn’t want to make cards from napkins – being a bit of a snob about it I must admit…..

napkin glitter card joyI am excited to share this simple, but beautiful technique, because I think many of you might enjoy trying this method to making homemade cards that doesn’t require a lot of equipment and materials.  And if you like do a “production-line” style of getting a bunch of the same thing done at once, one pack a napkins can make a ton of beautiful cards.  In fact, each individual napkin makes four cards!

napkin glitter card suppliesBesides some card stock and some pretty napkins you can get at the dollar store or craft store or wherever you might find paper products, the only other things you need are a VersaMark stamp pad, some type of adhesive tape, Heat & Stick Powder, and glitter (I used Stampin Up’s “Dazzling Diamonds” Dahling) :).

There is a great video tutorial on Youtube done by a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator from Canada, Tina Weller that you may want to watch if you are interested in learning how to do this:

Tina talks about using a specific type of Stampin’ Up adhesive sheets, but I just used double faced tape and/or the glue tape runner you can find at any craft or drug or variety stores and completely covered  some white card stock with it to adhere the napkin.

I made all of these cards last night, and I pretty much love all of them!  🙂

If you haven’t bought, made, sent your holiday greeting cards, you may just want to try this fun and easy technique.

And if you are interested in purchasing any Stampin’Up products, just let me know, and I can hook you up. 🙂

And I think I am going to enter the snowman/snowflake card as another entry into  The Paper Players PP224 Tic Tac Toe Challenge for White, Snowflake, & Glitter.

Have a sparkly, glitterly, dazzling day!

    • Now that you mention it, yes it does. I couldn’t place what I reminded me of, and now I know! Thanks RR! 🙂 Do you have a favorite? I am always curious what appeals to people, and funny thing is it is often so different 🙂

      • I like the one with the ornaments and the pearl beads. It looks like the old glass ornaments I love. If I did this I’d try and find a nativity scene. That would be neat.

When I was a kid I used to do decopauge, do you remember that? We’d use the top layer of a napkin and glue it to a piece of wood or something and shellac it. This looks so classy, no one would know it came from something so simple. Thank you also for sharing the video.

  1. Love these cards! You have a special gift! Have to smile at the snowman 🙂 and always like things with JOY on them since that is my middle name 🙂 You sure you don’t want to do my Christmas cards, should I put in my order for next year. LOL!
Thanks for always having such pretty things to look at on your blog

  2. Jodi, they are adorable! (I know, I use that word a lot but it is a fitting word for you). I could not tell they were made from napkins and wouldn’t have had you not told me. My favorite is the snowman and my next favorite is the Santa Clause face (I think that is his face?) It makes me happy to see you in the Christmas mood because it brings it into my home too. 😀 Big Hugs friend!

  3. Isn’t it great that if you keep an open mind and aren’t rigid in your thinking, that such good things can come your way. Your feelings about napkins are like mine towards certain types of books which I have to force myself to read and then find out I really like them! I think these cards are absolutely beautiful, Jodi.

    • What an enlightening, thoughtful comment, Barbara. It is an expression of opening my mind and trying something I didn’t think I would like 🙂 and I can’t wait to start reading my newly downloaded PJ Wodehouse 🙂

      • Hi Jodi, regarding P. G. W, you have to sort of be willing to let all expectations of serious plot go…this is not book club material…it’s more just a celebration of superb use of English and complete silliness expressed in such great upper-crust British tones. His stuff isn’t for everyone but those of us who love him, really LOVE him. I hope you enjoy him.

  5. Hello, I just recently saw a video in regards to a glitter napkin card. I have quite a bit of glitter from my school days. How would I be able to use it on the cards. I don’t have the heat and stick or dazzling diamonds stuff. Thank you.

    • Hi Marie! It’s been quite a while since I made these, but nice to hear from you and see it is still being seen. Does the glitter work with elmer’s glue? I think it dries clear? Experiment and create freely and you just might be surprised what you create! Good luck! Sparkle and glitter away!!!
