Lupines in Watercolor

lupine purple note card

Hubby asked if I could make a card for a friend the other day.

I had seen some lupines done in a similar way with a stamp set to what I created here, but I wanted to try doing with watercolor in a variety of colors.

I wanted a torn look to the watercolor paper to give it just a little more personality, and I had fun trying different colors.  Hubby like the purple the best when I showed them all to him, so I added a “Thinking of You” sentiment and wrote a personal message inside.

Also, after a bit of coaxing and prodding and urging, I decided to go ahead and open up an Etsy shop in case anyone would like to purchase some of my cards.  I have slowly started adding some of the things I have “in stock.”

I noticed many people sell prints of their watercolors, but I am featuring my original collection I have begun creating.

If you are looking for a special card, check out my ArtatLifeinBetween Etsy Shop.   I will continue to add and update.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

  1. Beautiful Jodi! Love the flowers – very lovely. I think it is wonderful that you are selling your cards. I use to do the same with my cards (not on Etsy though) and I sold a $100 worth of them to a man that owned a shop in “Old Town” in Albuquerque. Old town is the original Mexican part of the city and it is very touristy and popular. I hate to admit though, those were the only cards I sold. LOL!! My little card business went defunk really fast! haha!

    • Thanks PJ! I have no aspirations of becoming rich selling my cards 🙂 – just putting them out there in case someone wants them. Several people has asked. I’m really not pushing it because sometimes I loose the passion when I HAVE to do something LOL! One time I had to bake cookies because someone wanted to buy them after I sent some to work with my oldest son years ago. I really didn’t want to do it, and I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much. Weird! I know. I guess I’ll never become a millionaire! 🙂

  2. I love these cards, they are quite beautiful! I’d have a hard time picking a favorite color, I think! Congrats on your new shop – I went in and “favorite”-d you. I think this means something on Etsy, not sure, lol. I’ve decided to go a different route than Etsy, and who knows if I’ll ever actually open the thing, but I’m definitely working toward it, anyway. Best of luck to your new venture, Jodi! Your cards are really beautiful. Are you going to stock your store with your gorgeous non-WC cards too? Happy Thursday, my friend!

    • You are the sweetest ever Laura – to go in and “favorite” it. I know so little about it and am really not pushing it at all at this point. It is just there, and if someone is interested – fine. Several people have asked if I sell, so I can point them there. Likely people won’t want to pay for it, but that is ok. I could sell cheap and get lots of sales and then hate it and lose my passion for it. I will add other cards when I have them, but I don’t have any extras laying around. Seems I always have someone I need/want to send to 🙂

      • No worries, my friend, whatever I can do to help! I do think Etsy is kinder to companies who don’t mind selling cheap. But I agree with you, if you did that, you would probably soon hate it. People should be able to sell artwork for what it’s worth, but the reality is often different from what “should” happen. Your cards are so beautiful, both with and without watercolor!

      • I have at times, when asked 🙂 But I mainly gift things out. I don’t like to “box in” when doing a project. Meaning, as I’m working if I do this or add that, what will it do to my “cost line”. When I do things for events, weddings, or a multiple order of the same thing, I charge. Does that make any sense??? I haven’t had my coffee yet 😉 realized I was out right as I was going to make some. Major Emergency LOL

  4. What gorgeous Lupines, Jodi! Congratulations on your new Etsy shop! ‘The Frugal Crafter’ has a series of Art Marketing videos on her You Tube channel. Sometimes she mentions Etsy. Perhaps they might be a helpful resource! Soon you’ll be making crafty videos! What fun it would be to watch you create, Jodi! ♡
