Gotta love “almost-homemade” recipes – right?
And what is better than a crockpot recipe for those busy days when we need it?!
And WHO does not love General Tso’s Chicken? Please don’t tell me if you don’t?! It will shock me beyond belief.
This recipe turned out so yummy that I have to call it yet another……
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
A winner because it is YUMMY…
and a winner because it is EASY!
Here is how I made it.
Almost-Homemade Easy Crockpot General Tso's Chicken
- 2 1/2 lbs fresh or frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bit-sized pieces
- 2 cups corn starch
- 1 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 15-oz bottle Iron Chef General Tso’s Sauce and Glaze (this yummy sauce is what makes it “almost” homemade and VERY easy!)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
Directions:
- Mix corn starch, salt, and pepper in a gallon-sized Ziploc Bag
- Add chicken to corn starch mixture and shake to coat well.
- Heat oil in a stir-fry skillet.
- Add corn starch coated chicken, and fry 3-4 minutes until lightly browned and crisp.
- Pour entire contents of skillet into crockpot.
- Add bottle of sauce.
- Cook on LOW for 4 hours
- Add green onions
- Serve with steamed Jasmine rice
Enjoy!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

You will love it Jenna. The sauce is not very hot. If you like it hotter, you could add some red pepper flakes or peppers too! 🙂

OH GAWD, I am dying over here looking at that amazing meal. Looks outstanding, and I am sure it is/was. Is there any left, lol! I’ll be right over …

haha! I wish there was some left too! Hubby and son both took leftovers for lunch the next day. All that is left is some Jasmine rice. 🙂

It is awesome but only needs 4 hours in the crockpot so challenging if you leave all day. I wonder if new ones have timers.?

I think I’ve seen a slow cooker with a timer before…I also think it cost $300! :}

I looked for General Tso’s sauce at my market today, but they don’t carry it. I found it on Amazon and had sticker shock! Does it cost $9 for a 15oz bottle at your market?
I bought Panda Express’ Orange sauce and have that simmering over chopped up chicken in the crock pot now. It won’t be the same I know it! 🙂

No – that is probably double what I paid for it – if not more! They have a couple brands in our Asian section of the market. Maybe you could ask for it or try another store. But… Orange Sauce sounds wonderful too! I’ll be it will be wonderful. Enjoy!
