My design team inspiration card this week for The Paper Players Color Challenge #PP270 is a relatively clean and simple card. I made three Christmas cards before I decided I wanted to share this one for my inspiration – a not-Christmas card.
This week’s challenge is to use Black + White + Silver or Gold + One Color, and the other design team members have some awesome inspiration cards (including lots of Christmas cards!)
For my card, I stamped the dragonfly onto watercolor paper in black and then dropped in some W&N Prussian blue watercolor paint (surprise surprise!) very loosely and shook it a bit to make it move and drip. I also threw a few splatters on just for more freedom and artistic flair. Once dried, I added some silver brads to complete the front.
One the inside, I stamped the dragonfly again in Night of Navy stamped off twice before stamping on the third hit to make it more subtle and muted. I then stamped the sentiment on top of it. Just for a bit more sparkle, which you really can’t see in the photo, I brushed this one with the Wink of Stella.
What a beautiful card!

Good morning Jodi, this is one of my favorites. The design is so elegant. And, the Prussian blue is the “piece de resistance”.
Your card making is such a beautiful art form.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Awh! Thanks, Sharon. I really kind of like it – wanted to be a bit more artsy and different and unique. Some may not like, but that is how it is with art – eh? Gotta just go with what we enjoy and like. Thanks for your ongoing encouragement.

Yes, the beauty of your card is you used the tools available but then jumped out of the box and explored the endless possibilities with your PB paint!!💕

I like the elegant finishing touch with the silver dots – are they beads? And of course, I love the added watercolor in Prussian Blue! The butterfly looks like it’s flying! 🎨💖🌈🌟

Jodi, I love that you didn’t post a Christmas card… this butterfly is stunning and you really have perfected the drippy, splashy look. When I try it somehow it always looks so contrived.. yours just looks natural! Fabulous

thanks Jaydee – you know – I’m always fascinated with abstract art and before ever trying it thought it must be so easy. It’s not as easy as it looks – eh? 🙂
