Dancing in the Autumn sunlight
amidst coffee-colored trunks and wispy branches
with marshmallow fluff and smoky gray clouds floating
in an azure blue sky
above a carpet of fading green grass…
A few bright leaves hang on to life
in bold and brilliant bursts
of crimson and honey and marmalade.
Autumn’s Final Act.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Photo taken 11/21/15 from my front porch (my blog cover photo) of the weeping cherry tree that has the only leaves left in the front yard.
Love that pic, Jodi!

I tend to root for those leaves, just like I root for whatever underdog is playing…but alas…at least their departure holds the promise of spring.

That is an awesome way to be! You keep on rooting for the underdogs Kathy!

Hi Jodi, your words are like lyrics to a folk tune. I can hear the guitar playing and the harmonies blending. Beautiful photography.

Fall colors are so dramatic and beautiful. There is a sadness when they fall to the ground and reveal the skeletons of the trees and bushes. But it is through our sadness over the onset of winter that we realize such is the circle of life. Very pretty picture Jodi!

There’s something bittersweet about Autumn. So much beauty, but it seems like a little death. Lovely poem and photo, Jodi.

Yes – I used to feel more that way, but I try to look at it differently now as a needed cycle of life and important, beautiful season. 🙂

I like how you put that, “Autumn’s final act.” It captures this time of year perfectly, as one season begins to fade into another. You do have a way with words!
