The Old Porch Swing
The Seasons you have endured…
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall.
The Generations you have supported…
Great-Grandparents, Grandparents, Parents, Children, Grandchildren.
The Conversations you have held…
Politics, religion, love and hope and promise, arguments unresolved and resolved.
The Moments you have cherished…
First kisses, proposals, joys and heartbreaks, celebrations and sorrows, announcements and secrets.
Memories of a family.
Memories of an old porch swing.
Harmony.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

I LOVE your poem! That is wonderful that you have a porch swing that belonged to your grandparents and great grandparents! They use to make things back then that actually lasted! LOL!

Thanks PJ. This one did not belong to my grandparents but someone’s. 😉. And it is fun to imagine and dream of the memories.

Just lovely, Jodi! What stories your porch swing could tell! Our porch swing is original to our home, built in 1922. In the 1920s, the porch swing and rocking chairs were there to welcome barbershop quartet singers who gathered on our front porch to sing on warm summer evenings! 🙂 Wish I could have seen them! It’s an honor to preserve these treasures. So, we carefully put them into the garage each winter. Porch swing season is just around the corner! Yay! ♡
