Sittin’ on the Dock of the Day Part Deux

old red boat watercolor 10x12

If you caught yesterday’s post: “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay,” you MIGHT recognize this old red boat.

I couldn’t resist doing it in watercolor.

But alas my attempts at recreating it – TWICE – last evening – fell short of what I had in mind….

One last try I thought….

So I flipped the 10×12 sheet of Arches over and slapped on some paint with abandon this time – not even trying to exactly recreate, but just having fun splashing and creating a “feeling,” presuming I would never post this one.

But then….

I kinda liked it.

It’s not a Monet or a Matisse, but it’s a “Jodi,”

and for now, that’s okay.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

    • You are so kind. It is far from what I want. I felt a bit pressured on it. Darn it! And still wish I could have step by step instructions…. I kinda like it, but don’t love it. I’m guessing you know how I feel 🙂

      • I know exactly how you feel. Oh, we could write a book!! But as Kerfe said, I think it was a really cool interpretation. It’s not supposed to be perfect (and wouldn’t it be boring if it ever/always was?), but I think it conveys your impression and your feelings and that makes it really wonderful! You’re conveying your message to us and we can understand and relate. What more can an artist ask for than that? 😘🎨👍🙇😍

      • Ok and I just wanna add…..you are evolving on your quest to be your best YOU. You and your art are unique. The world needs to see what you have to offer. And we’re seeing it here! A developing beautiful Jodi that only YOU can create. That’s what we want to see! I hope this makes sense, as God only knows why I woke from a weird dream at 315 and turned on my phone lol. Anyway. It’s beautiful, we love it, and …. you’re evolving at exactly the rate you were designed to. WC is its own beast too, which no doubt plays a huge role here! It does what it wants but in this case, it and you made what you were supposed to make. Ok I’m rambling now. Night night! 😘🙇😍🎨👍

  2. gorgeous colors and light tones – its so cheerful!
don’t know how I missed this one! glad I came back to recheck for missed posts 🙂 I love the color palette you chose for this and how much light you kept. Plus all those great Drips, Splashes, Splatters are wonderful and full of freedom. It has the carefree attitude that Charles Reid creates in his watercolors….. well done Jodi!! I really love how you have done this.
