Thanks Debi – I realize this morning in looking at it that I over-worked it a tad – well maybe more than a tad – LOL! Just gives me another opportunity to try again. 🙂 Spring has finally arrives – sun is shining bright this morning and the birds are singing while I sniffle 🙂

I’m so glad you didn’t lie and you were honest and kind in agreeing with me that it is overworked. I appreciate that, because it helps me know I am thinking correctly. Looseness shouldn’t mean overworking and sloppy. I still must think of deliberate strokes and need to remember to leave white space. Am I right?

ah ha! I won’t say something, that I do not feel or See.
yes, I do agree that there was a part a bit overdone.
*sloppy splashy, I loved though!! Sometimes, Jodi, I see in students (just so you know where I’m coming from) a bit of darkening, or over worked Tones – that is Simple Due to working at night!! when people paint in natural light, those issues do resolve faster. it happens to me, too, when I am Tired. just plain beat. shrug it off.
you are 100% right with the WHITE Space!!! this will save many paintings 🙂 and…. we, (I) go thru phases. where it all looks like You Know what! but, then… as we press on, Voila. magic returns 🙂 so Press On!!!!! hugs Debi

I so appreciate you coming from your “teacher” place to offer advice. You are so generous and kind with it, and it is so valuable! I most always paint at night, so I hear what you are saying. That is very important good advice. Thank you Debi!

there are natural Daylight lamps, artists who paint at night use. …. I forgot to mention!
With the info I share, I think of how i felt when I first Started, and what I wished Someone! would have told me!!!

I wonder..do you think it would be OK to combine grilled cheese day, since I missed it, and peach cobbler day today?
I hope your come is better soon, Jodi.

I’m looking forward to more tulips! Love the dark blue definition. I think cool and warm colors together can be a really good thing (but I wouldn’t have said that last April). I think this painting shows a lot of promise, Jodi. It shows your love for the flowers, we feel that, it comes across. And your love for color. These are really good things. I love that you’re finding your style. And I think your comfort level with the medium is really growing. I look forward to your paintings always!! 😘🙇👍🎨🌷💐

I always appreciate your thoughtful comments that show you really look at it and express what it feels! I know you have been so busy lately, so that means so much to me! Tax season is almost over! YAY!

Amen and pass the sauce, Jodi! I’m working early and late but I think God is blessing me with supernatural strength and focus! Truly. I know it isn’t me. Anyway yes I’m happy to give you any feedback I can and if you can use it and get better, even better! That’s the ultimate wonderment!

You are a superstar, so I’m not surprised you have been given supernatural strength and focus! 🙂

And I’d like to add this, since you mentioned it: I personally would prefer constructive criticism to a compliment any day. Or even someone’s response to my work or what they saw in an abstract piece. I find those comments much more useful than a general compliment. I don’t think everyone shares my feelings in that vein though. And if I painted something that I truly 100% loved (which is extremely rare), maybe I wouldn’t like a constructive comment so much on that piece? I don’t know. For the most part, I’m trying to learn to disassociate myself personally from my artwork. Every time I sit down it’s “here goes nothing”, and if it works out, it’s a bonus. That’s how I try to approach it. Watercolor is like a cat anyway. It does its own thing and we have less control than we sometimes think. And that’s on a good day. lol.
My two cents, for what they may be worth. Truly, I look forward to your work always!!!

You are so wise and insightful and have taught me sooooo much! I can’t tell you how much I value your comments. As I have said many times, if it wasn’t for you, I’m not sure I would even still be painting. You have encouraged and inspired and offered such valuable insight. Constructive yet thoughtful and considerate. xxoo

Ok I could copy and paste that comment 100% back to you!! I would love your constructive feedback on my work and if you would like the same, I would love to do that in return as well. 😘🙇Gotta get back to work but wanted to pop in and I’m so glad anything I said was helpful 🙀🎨😍

I absolutely love what you do with watercolors! (I did go ahead and order that bunny, and I have the perfect spot for it all picked out). But beyond that, what a nice attitude to have: waking up each morning and thinking, “what will I celebrate today?” I’m going to have to try that. And I hope you feel better soon, too.

Tulips!! They are among my top-favorite flowers 🙂 And your water colours are truly splendid. Belated happy birthday to your dad 🙂 Hope you are feeling better now and the cold is not troubling you too much 🙂 It is quite a wonderful feeling when someone asks you “what are you celebrating today”. Such an upbeat and positive feeling. Well celebrating that we are one day closer to weekend and its finally sunny here after all the crazy chilly times even in spring 🙂
