I did another watercolor painting this past weekend of a photo I shared recently.
I am challenged with this big of a piece and so many details. The painting is 8 x 10, and I did it on Arches Hot Press, which I rather love for it’s fluidity. So fun to experiment with different types of paper.
I think the fisherman really stands out in the painting more so than in the photo.
It was a challenge. I completed it. I will continue trying!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Wonderful feeling to this. Each element has its shape: the solid bridge, the fluid water. Well done. (K)

Thanks so much K. This type and size of painting is so much more challenging. I will keep on keeping on though. 😉

I’ve always liked to work large, but I haven’t really tried it with watercolor. I think it would definitely be challenging. But this looks good!

Wonderful painting. The water looks cool and the reflections are lovely. Fantastic that you embrace your challenges with fun and experimentation. Keep up the great work.

Thanks so much Haunani! It’s fun – but then I want it to be wonderful when I’m done, and I think I am not being reasonable in that expectation with myself! LOL! But it will be fun to look back and hopefully improve!

One of the beautiful things about art is that there is always room for improving and learning and experimenting. You create wonderful paintings so do not be hard on yourself, they are all stepping stones to the next piece of art. Peace.

My father is an artist and I marvel at anyone who can create in this fashion. I struggle to paint the shed!

Oh to be an artist! I’ll bet you can do more than you think! Just a matter of practice practice practice – and that only comes if you really want and love doing. I’m still on the beginning of the journey! And I sure appreciate your kind comment!

Yes, but how many times must I paint the garden shed, for goodness sake? I mean, really!

I like how you painted the reflections in the water and the foliage in the background too! And your fisherman looks great! 😄🎨🌟 I think it is good you are pushing yourself in your paintings. This is how I improve but sometimes it feels so foreign. Keep splashing the paint, Jodi! 💕💖😃

Oh, Jodi, you have come SO far with your paintings! I’m only a wannabe artist and fear stops me from giving it a real try. But when I see the progress you are making, it inspires me. Nicely done!

Jodi, I love the way you go after a challenge and let nothing stand in your way! In my opinion, this was a really challenging scene, but there’s a landscape painter inside you that won’t quit and so you tackled it head on! Bravo to you! I think you’re doing a great job, and the keep on keeping on part is what keeps us all moving forward. I agree with Charlie, don’t ever stop painting!!! ❤

Thanks Laura! Challenging indeed to do it how I want. To some I suppose this comes easy. I will keep on keepin on. Still trying to find my place in art. Lol 😁

I don’t know if watercolor, particularly landscapes, comes easy to anyone, Jodi. I think you’re doing as well as anyone could expect. It’s hard to be patient when you can see in your mind’s eye exactly what you wanna produce – and it’s gonna be beautiful – and you can’t wait to bring it to life. I understand, believe me. At some point, the work will catch up to that ideal. Don’t ask me when it happens; I have no clue. But you’re already liking some of your stuff, right? Ready to frame and hang in your own place? That’s progress! If it were easy, it wouldn’t be any fun and you’d have been long done with it. 😉

I do like the little fisher guy in this! This is a good job but I can see how the bridge was a challenge. All those straight lines and you like free-form and artistic!
