The Rusty Old Bridge and Fisherman Original Watercolor, Pittsburgh, PA

I did another watercolor painting this past weekend of a photo I shared recently.

I am challenged with this big of a piece and so many details.  The painting is 8 x 10, and I did it on Arches Hot Press, which I rather love for it’s fluidity.  So fun to experiment with different types of paper.

I think the fisherman really stands out in the painting more so than in the photo.

It was a challenge.  I completed it.  I will continue trying!

  15. I like how you painted the reflections in the water and the foliage in the background too! And your fisherman looks great! 😄🎨🌟 I think it is good you are pushing yourself in your paintings. This is how I improve but sometimes it feels so foreign. Keep splashing the paint, Jodi! 💕💖😃

  18. Jodi, I love the way you go after a challenge and let nothing stand in your way! In my opinion, this was a really challenging scene, but there’s a landscape painter inside you that won’t quit and so you tackled it head on! Bravo to you! I think you’re doing a great job, and the keep on keeping on part is what keeps us all moving forward. I agree with Charlie, don’t ever stop painting!!! ❤

    • Thanks Laura! Challenging indeed to do it how I want. To some I suppose this comes easy. I will keep on keepin on. Still trying to find my place in art. Lol 😁

      • I don’t know if watercolor, particularly landscapes, comes easy to anyone, Jodi. I think you’re doing as well as anyone could expect. It’s hard to be patient when you can see in your mind’s eye exactly what you wanna produce – and it’s gonna be beautiful – and you can’t wait to bring it to life. I understand, believe me. At some point, the work will catch up to that ideal. Don’t ask me when it happens; I have no clue. But you’re already liking some of your stuff, right? Ready to frame and hang in your own place? That’s progress! If it were easy, it wouldn’t be any fun and you’d have been long done with it. 😉
