Come fly away with me
to a place we want to be
up high in the cottony clouds
where anything is allowed
where soft winds blow
and spirits glow
where life is free
for he and she and me
we’ll take flight
toward the light
and smile and laugh and sing
in a basket tied with string
we will float
in our air-filled boat
with the utmost ease
in the gentle breeze
and leave behind
the ties that bind.
A couple of weeks ago, Hubby and I spent a Saturday evening watching a multitude of hot air balloons lift off and fly away at the Western Pennsylvania Balloon Quest in New Castle, PA. The weather was a bit “iffy,” and take-offs were delayed, but Mother Nature cooperated, to our great fortune, and we were able to experience this beauty.
I’m a bit of a ninny poo poo when it comes to daring adventures of height like this, but oh how I wish I were brave enough. Maybe some day. For now, it was lovely to experience from the ground and dream of far away places that can only be reached by going where the gentle wind blows us.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Oh my gosh! I thought you were on vacation or something because I stopped getting your daily posts in my email. I was hoping something had not happened to you! I don’t know why they just stopped being sent to me. I will have to refollow you to get your posts in my email again.

We used to try and plan one family adventure each year – whether it was white water rafting or swimming with dolphins or hot air ballooning. Good memories!

The timing of this post is unfortunate given that 16 people lost their lives this weekend in a Texas hot air balloon tragedy.

Those festivals are a beautiful sight, especially in the early morning. Like you, it’s something I always wanted to do but my fear of heights and motion sickness always got in the way. Maybe one day..:)

I’d say go for it, Jodi… although I don’t think I would myself… just hanging under hot air like that…eek!
Great photos, though. I love these drifts (or floats!) of balloons – they’re magical to watch.

We have an annual balloon race here in St. Louis, and it is so much fun to watch them take off! They are incredibly beautiful. Like you, I toy with the idea of taking a balloon ride sometime, but I don’t think I’ll ever be brave enough. I’ll have to be content with watching from the ground. Thanks for hearing these pictures! They were great!

Me, too! And I meant “sharing” these pictures. I have GOT to stop typing so quickly!

I knew what you meant 🙂 It’s kind of sad that we simply accept anymore – eh? As we are all so used to auto-correct (well – auto-not-correct) and quick texting.
