It’s that time of year
when the colors and smells and heat of summer
with lush greens and fragrant flowers
and thick, heavy air
are making way for
the colors and smells and chill of autumn
with vibrant reds and scorching oranges and deep hues of yellow
and a refreshing “nip” in the air.
It’s that time of year –
a change in seasons
A time for new beginnings
and a time for sweet endings.
It’s that time of year
that wonderful, lovely, sweet time of year.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
A wonderful poem + a beautiful fern = a happy welcoming celebration for the change of seasons. Enjoy your Friday and weekend, Jodi! 🙂 ❤

I dislike the changes, because it’s so sad to say goodbye to one season (in this case the summer), and so difficult to greet the next one (in this case fall) – and I’ll go through that again in December! 🙂 But your poem helped me realize the beauty of those goodbyes.. .and hellos. And your watercolor is gorgeous.

Gorgeous fern painting Jodi! Lovely poem too! It’s sad to see summer leave for the year. But fall is a beautiful season. I wanted to tell you Jodi that I think my little 15 year old Bria is dying. My heart is broken. I have a vet appt for her this afternoon.

Oh PJ. I’m so sorry to hear this. How was the vet appointment?

He said that she had an infection and gave her an antibiotics shot and two antibiotics that I need to give her twice a day. He also said that her anal glands were swollen and keeping her from having a BM. He told me she should feel better in a few days. Yay! I was so afraid he was going to have to put her down and it didn’t turn out that way at all!

Yes, I feel it in the air as well, it is wonderful and yet a little bittersweet. 🙂 LOVE your abstract, so beautiful…..did you lay down a fern first or afterwards? it is simply perfect.

Thanks Margaret. I laid it down first and ran it through my Dir cut machine to imprint it a bit. Then painted. Then pulled the fern off once the painting was dry. I used lots of wet wash. 😉

Do a google search on “cuttlebug” – t’s actually an “embossing” machine of sorts – got it for making cards and doing crafts Here is a link http://www.joann.com/cuttlebug-v2-die-cut-and-embossing-machine/8578247.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw0f-9BRCF9-D60_n4rKcBEiQAnXW4-6IVOEUFX4hZxkCYI1P9_BakP5mr64wO1PJxdvSQdOIaAvUh8P8HAQ

Yes, the air is getting nippy at night over here too, sigh… Please just don’t freeze until my tomatoes ripen, lol! It is incredible to me that you can even make the ubiquitous fern frond look like a gorgeous work of art, fantastic!

each season has ist own pleasures, and the Change is always welcome – at the beginning. When some of the seasons are too grey, too stormy or too hot they are not welcome anymore after 2 months.

Awh!!! Thanks Jill!! I just pulled a fern leaf from outside and pressed it into the paper with my CuttleBug to “imprint it” then watercolor painted on top of it. When dry, I lifted it off. and Voila!
