It’s that time of year
when the colors and smells and heat of summer

with lush greens and fragrant flowers
and thick, heavy air

are making way for
the colors and smells and chill of autumn

with vibrant reds and scorching oranges and deep hues of yellow
and a refreshing “nip” in the air.

It’s that time of year –
a change in seasons

A time for new beginnings
and a time for sweet endings.

It’s that time of year
that wonderful, lovely, sweet time of year.

I dislike the changes, because it’s so sad to say goodbye to one season (in this case the summer), and so difficult to greet the next one (in this case fall) – and I’ll go through that again in December! 🙂 But your poem helped me realize the beauty of those goodbyes.. .and hellos. And your watercolor is gorgeous.

  7. Gorgeous fern painting Jodi! Lovely poem too! It’s sad to see summer leave for the year. But fall is a beautiful season. I wanted to tell you Jodi that I think my little 15 year old Bria is dying. My heart is broken. I have a vet appt for her this afternoon.

    I’ve always loved ferns, and often paint them in remembrance of my grandma… so this was extra special!! 🙂
    great technique to use the craft embosser tool…. loads of things to do with it!
