Charlie Charlie Pumpkin Eater – A Charlie Guest Post

I have the best Mom ever!

She went to the office yesterday for a meeting and left me home to play.

Not only was it a beautiful Fall day….  she made a whole toy box out in the front yard for me to play with.

Isn’t she awesome?!

She put all these great little pumpkins on a bail of hay surrounded by flowers to make them smell nice.   It really did look pretty, but I’m sure she wanted me to feel free to play with all these fun things.  Right?

I had a blast tossing them around the yard.

After playing with them for a while, I discovered not only are they fun to roll around the yard, but they are DELICIOUS to eat too!

So I ate a few.

Seriously – am I the luckiest dog on the planet?!

Thanks Mom!  The yard might not look quite as decorative as you left it, but I sure had a fun day!

  1. Oh Charlie, Charlie! Was your Mom happy when she saw how you had changed the decorations slightly? Just wondering? You may want to stick with the treats that she specifically gives you from now on. Think they may taste better 🙂 But you gave me a laugh to start out the morning, so thanks! And yes you do have a great Mom! 🙂

    • Hi Ms. C. I am really very lucky. Mom just laughed. She learned a long time ago that life is too short to get mad about such things, and homes and yards are for living and enjoying – not just looking like showplaces. Life is way more fun that way! So pumpkin bowling it was! ❤ Charlie

  2. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy…hope you didn’t get a boo-boo belly from eating those “treats”!
Just what I needed to bring a smile to my face this morning!
Have an awesome day Charlie & your Mom too,
    Char ❤

  3. I wonder do the white pumpkins taste different than the orange ones? ☺️ I’m sure that pumpkin just helped your coat look extra soft, Charlie! You might be onto something GREAT! Pumpkin flavored dog food! See you were really just helping your mom out with some of your own cooking ideas… Lol! 🍂🐶

  4. Oh Charlie you’re so funny. I guess those tiny pumpkins did kind of look to be the same size and somewhat the shape of possible “Charlie Dog Toys.” But tasted better, am I right? But better stick to your box next time. You’ll get tastier treats if you’re good.

    • Oh they were DELICIOUS Ms Mandi! I’m not sure I could resist them “next time!” There was one left, and Mom put it up high where I can’t reach. I’m hoping she forgets and moves it where I can. I have my eye on it! ❤ charlie

  6. Oh, Charlie you do have a wonderful mom! I’m glad you had so much fun with the pumpkins she left out for you! But you know what they say about sharing…it’s always good to share you things with others, especially your family. So, maybe leave at least a few of the pumpkins for your mom and dad, just in case they want a snack as well? I bet that would make them very happy!

      • It’s hard, but maybe try remembering that if YOU share with Mom, she may share more with you! So if you leave her a pumpkin or two, she might remember that the next time she is eating a steak. I know delayed gratification is hard for dogs (for most of us humans, too), but it’s often worth it.

Now Lucy wants to add her two cents: “Don’t listen to my mom. Never share your food. And if you move quickly enough, you don’t have to worry about others sharing with you, because you just grab it while you can. Mom means well, but she’s a person, and doesn’t understand these things.”

    • Thank you Ms Donna! It is so nice to hear from you! We are not sure what I am since I was found on the streets and brought to the shelter where my Mom and Dad adopted me from. All we know is I am loved, and that is enough for us ❤ love, charlie
