Doodlewashing During the Debate

Abstract watercolor in pink and green 9×12

Wednesday night was the third and final
2016 U.S. Presidential debate.

I do not wish to talk politics here,
because I choose to keep things positive.

But this is what I did while watching.
I just sat cross-legged with a block of paper, a brush, and a palette,
and this is what came to life.

I have no idea what it is supposed to be.
It may have begun as a pink rose that just grew and grew
and grew and grew as I watched and listened and dropped paint down.

I wasn’t sure if I would share it here as I have no clue if it is artistic
or creative or even appealing to anyone.

But to me, it is cheerful and happy and bright.
And I think, more than the political climate,
my heart and mind are thinking and dreaming of my first grandchild in several weeks!
And that makes me VERY happy!

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

  1. This is beautiful. I can’t believe you did this while watching the debate. It made me so anxious that I just kept walking in and out of the room. How wonderful that you actually made something so lovely during that time.

  2. Artistic or creative…thank you for sharing this, Jodi. Everyone puts a name to everything but what the heck…if it does not have a name maybe we can call it….from my heart to yours. It is alive, colorful, anticipating. And to cheer you on, did I tell you I met my new niece today? Her name is Sophie Margaux. I hope my brother will grant me permission to share our pics in the blog. Cross our fingers. ❤

  4. You know what I see Jodi? right in the middle of that flower? HOPE! and I am not even thinking about politics, the state of whatever, I hate politics….but I am thinking of simply hope, hope in what you desire in your own life, for your family, your grandchild on the way. Hope….period! love the colors by the way!

  6. It is cheerful and positive. I’m sure you are VERY excited about your first grandchild arriving soon. Our granddaughter was born on the 9th of this month. It was her big brothers 1/2 birthday, so they are 2.5 years apart. It is truly wonderful to have those sweet souls in the world and most importantly, our lives. Congratulations! Will you be Nana, Grandma or another name???

  8. Maybe you were creating something positive and happy to counter balance all the nastiness of the debate? If so, you certainly succeeded! I think all we can do is make sure we do not get engulfed by the negativity, and creating beauty is a wonderful way to do that. Nit helps to have something to look forward to as well. For you, a grandbaby, for me, a wedding!

  9. Hey, nicer to look at than another still of the candidates–seriously, what’s with the facial expressions when the cameras are going off. I never see a normal picture anymore…then again, don’t particularly care too. Seen too much of both to last a lifetime.
