I woke up early Sunday morning – before the sun, before the birds, before the rest of the house. Sometimes this is my favorite time of day. It feels like an extra gift of time to do whatever I please. So I poured a cup of coffee and sat down with some blank paper and my box of Sennelier soft pastels.
For about an hour and a half, I drew and I rubbed and I smudged with abandon and nothing in particular in mind, and these two 9x12s were the result. On the second one, I decided to see what would happen if I splattered some white…..
It was fun to just create some abstract abandon in shades of oranges and blues.
Wishing you a day with a gift of time to do what makes you happy.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Love the colors and I can see that softness in your paintings….Sennelier pastels are so soft that they crumble easily in my aggressive “get it done” hands! you must be more delicate than I am! And of course, your splatters, love those. Have a wonderful week Jodi!

They are so soft Margaret, I did have a bit of trouble with that. I really have no clue what I am doing with pastels… 🙂

hehe…..they can take a bit to get used to. I like soft but need a firmer pastel….some of my favorite brands are Great American, they are soft but not as soft as Senneliers.

Those are incredible! Is it just me, or do they have a dream-like quality? Maybe because you allowed you subconscious to take over? For whatever reason, they’re powerful!

Awh! Thanks Ann! I think the pastels give it that “dreamy” feeling. I was so unsure of them – but trying to just throw it out there with no worries of what people think 🙂 – I seriously had no agenda – they just happened. My youngest son loved them – so he is getting them. Go figure 🙂 Thanks for your constant encouragement and support!
