Lap Doggin’: A Charlie Guest Post

Hi Friends –

Happy Sunday!  It’s me – your buddy, Charlie – back with a guest post.  I hear some of you have been missing me!  😉

Let’s talk laps today.

Mom is always trying to coax me to sit on her lap in the evening.

She begs…
she pleads…
she bribes…
she pretend cries…

PUULLLLLEEEEZZE!  Sheesh!

I’m just not a fan!

I much prefer to sit in my own seat – especially when it is lined with my favorite soft, chenille blankie.  I am, of course, within close enough range where Mom is very welcome, and even highly encouraged, to scratch my chin and belly and rub my ears.

I do, however, like to sit on the laps of guests that come to our home…

especially those that aren’t particularly fond of dogs and don’t understand how amazing doggie kisses are.

These are the laps I am particularly drawn to…
so I do choose to jump into those laps.

Even when they push me away.
Even when Mom says “Down Charlie!”
Even when Dad says “No Charlie!”

A dog’s gotta do what a dog’s gotta do – right?

I wholeheartedly believe my purpose is to teach all humans that dogs are wonderful and doggie kisses are the best!

We all need a purpose – and until someone comes up with a better one.  This is mine!

Woofs & Wags,
Charlie

  1. Keep spreading that love of yours around Charlie, in whatever way you feel most comfortable. Even though some humans are a little unsure, don’t let that hold you back! If your Mom is interested, tell her to pick up a copy of A Dog’s Purpose, to read. It is an awesome book & I am sure one she would love.

    • Thank you Ms. Lynn! I must make sure I tell Mom about that book! She keeps buying so many books, she needs to get busy reading, but this one sounds like a real winner! love, charlie

  2. Charlie, tell your mom that the reason you don’t get into her lap is because you are saving her lap for her little granddaughter to sit in! And, all the little “grands” that come in the future! Keep keeping those laps warm that don’t particularly want you in them. They will change their minds!

    • Hi ms. jenna – I keep hearing talk of this baby girl that my family is so excited about. I do so hope we get along and become best of friends. I hope she will share her toys with me – hehe! Love, charlie

  3. Makes sense to me, Charlie! You know mom loves you, so you don’t need to sit in her lap, right? But all those non-dog lovers (the unenlightened heathens) need you to show them just how wonderful dogs are, especially up close and personal. Continue your quest to convert them, one lap at a time!

  4. Hi Charlie 🙂 Gee, I have missed you ! Listen, I think it is awesome that you want to jump up on other peoples laps (don’t tell your mom), especially those that don’t want you to really jump up onto them…it is all about …’spreading the love’, I mean, seriously who could resist being loved by you, it is an honor !!! I also, totally get that you like your own spot as well, it’s a dog thing, but I also get that mom wants you with her, now that is a human thing- confusing I know…but you are seriously loved Charlie and mom cannot resist having you close to her. Have a great week Charlie and lots of love ❤

  5. HI Charlie! So good to hear from you again! You are welcome back on my lap anytime!! You are such a loving dog. If anyone can win over people that may not care for dogs, you can Charlie! You can be the mascot 🙂

  6. I get it, Charley. You few your energies are better spent on people who need to be educated. But if I were you I would also understand where my bread was buttered and climb up on Mom’s lap once in a while. Just saying.

    • Hi Mr George – I hear you, but my mom is pretty easy no matter – hehe! Though I don’t like to sit on her lap, I do like to snuggle in bed with her. Dad said he had to move me last night as Mom was about ready to fall out of bed. I got a few shots and wasn’t feeling 100% Strangely – they prefer I sleep in “Charlie’s bed!” Seems I just can’t win – eh? Love, charlie

  8. It’s a dog thing Charlie I get it. My old dog my youngest brother nicknamed ‘grumpy.’ She would always sit wherever she could on you rump end first. Whether we were on the couch or standing, or on the flour. So I totally get it, it’s part of your nature 🙂
