Caught in the Net – Fishing Net in Black & White – Lake Arthur – May 2017

Caught in the Net.

I believe that there is one story in the world, and only one. . . . Humans are caught—in their lives, in their thoughts, in their hungers and ambitions, in their avarice and cruelty, and in their kindness and generosity too—in a net of good and evil. . . . There is no other story. A man, after he has brushed off the dust and chips of his life, will have left only the hard, clean questions: Was it good or was it evil? Have I done well—or ill?

― John Steinbeck, East of Eden

A good question to ask ourselves at the end of each day … “Have I done well?”

And if not…  tomorrow is  another day.

Keep on trying.

Be caught in the net of good.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

  1. Loved this dear Jodi. Something we all need to take to ❤️. A good friend suggested another poem that fits with this called Dash. Both poems say a lot about life. Italian Ooch Hugs 🤗

  2. Have I done well? A thought provoking question indeed, Jodi… and one well worth asking and thinking about. Some days I do better than others… and on those ‘not so’ days I should remember two things… not to beat myself up about it, and remember there is always tomorrow.

    • Thanks Sylvia. Have you read East of Eden? I just started as I’ve never read. It is full of amazing poetic writing that is drawing me in right from the start.
