A fawn
I named John
was on the lawn
at dawn.

I yawned,
turned the lights on,
and like a phenomenon,
he was gone.

The beauty of nature
and new life
never ceases to
amaze me
no matter how often
I witness it.

Morning memories…
Cherishing the moments…
at life in between.

I was looking back at some of your earlier posts with the watercolor portraits of your Granddaughter. I only discovered your blog this May, so they were new to me.     • You are so kind, Ellen! Thank you! I am such an amateur at it, but I am enjoying – most of the time – lol – sometimes I get frustrated. I did get a chance to do some painting today, so will be sharing a few more in the coming week. 🙂 Hope Benjamin likes it too! 🙂

  17. Jodi, what an adorable painting! Isn’t it remarkable when you see fawns and in a blink, they’re gone! I’ve witnessed a new fawn lost from his/ her mother and will write it on a post soon! The only downfall is that I need a photo…so I keep hoping they will come back!😉

  19. Benjamin says “this deer is so cute”! I read the little poem, but he disagrees about the word fawn. I guess it is a new word to him ( I totally skipped over phenomenon). He wants to go back to “Chuck Duck” – again!

  20. Sunday my grandaughter bisiting and I were coming up our mountain road. A mother deer and her fawn were on the side of the road trying to cross at the same time a car was coming down, swerve and a near miss, but moma was now on the side of the road the fawn running as fast as it could but not knowing which way to bolt, after a quarter of a mile i pulled up closer to the fawn so he could not get in front of my car again, a car came from behind me not knowing what was going on and decided to go around me, so after that i just pulled over and stopped. I’m sure baby is exhausted, mom is 1/2 mile back and up the hill. My granddaughter took a photo as he fineally took off to the right down hill. Ive never seen one this small, i thought at first it was a deer and small dog. Maybe as big as a russell terrier. Wish i knew how to send you a photo, so timely.
