Impatiens Flowers – June 2017 – Mars, PA

Impatience.

It is hard to be patient,
when you are impatiently waiting…

For the sun to rise,
or for the sun to set.

For the next season to begin,
or for the former to end.

For the pot to boil,
or for the bread to rise.

For the punch line of a joke,
or the ending of a sad movie.

To start a new book,
or to reach the ending.

For the child to grow,
or for the child to remain small.

For the love of your life,
or for the ability to love life.

For that amazingly great moment,
or for each one in between.

  6. It seems we spend so much of our lives impatiently waiting for something other than what we have. I try to keep this quote from Bill Keane in my mind : “Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” Your poem is beautiful, Thank-you!

    • So true. Love that quote too. Holding my granddaughter right now. We were playing and laughing and then I started singing and she fell asleep in my arms. It’s grandma Friday for me. Best day of the week 💕

      • It seems so long ago that I rocked and sang Benjamin to sleep – he was not a good sleeper his first 6 months or so. Grandma Friday must be such a joy for the both of you! Enjoy all of these first year moments, they go by much too quickly. P.S. So glad you liked the quote, I repeat it often!

  11. That is such a beautiful poem, Jodi! I’ve only just sat down after a day of running around, with my head spinning the whole time, feeling a lot of impatience. Your poem seems to put it all into perspective, I’m now feeling calmer and thankful 🙂

  12. I love this poem, wonderful Jodi! And I plant impatiens in my rustic tricycle planter every year. This year they are a light pink. I never know what color will show up first at the store as it’s the first annual I always buy and plant. Last year they were a pretty salmon color. 🙂
