Earl the Squirrel. 

On the edge of the forest lived a squirrel named Earl.
He had a sister, whose name was Pearl.

The two of them loved to dance and twirl,
especially when visiting their cousin, Cheryl.

They sometimes ate ice cream cones of chocolate and vanilla swirl
that were tipped on the top with a frosty curl.

But more often they caught an acorn or berry that was hurled
on a branch or the trunk of a tree that was burled.

Their tails were fluffy but they kept them at a furl
in case they would have to run and scutter and whirl.

Which was often the case when a dog named Merle
chased them back to the edge of their world.

  14. Great painting. The story is just full of action and visions and so personal to me, love the ice cone with chocolate and vanilla swirl and a top with a frosty curl. You are so talented! Next you’ll turn it into a musical. You already have a book of nursery rhyms for generations to come for your family and extended family called friends. You just haven’t published it yet. Kind of like a painting when it’s done you’ll put it in a frame. Much love to you.

  21. Benjamin is so excited to see his friend – “That is my Earl the Squirrel, he is so cute!” Benjamin loves the story too, I had to read it over and over again. He says “Thank-you Jodi!” Now he wants to go visit Hal the cow and Klaus the Mouse.

  22. I loved this one too! Similar to the otter but somehow more character about him. Maybe b/c I know how dogs are chasing them and how they react. Great work again with the fur texture, gives it a more real affect 🙂 Love your art so much. It makes me me happy 🙂
