Slithering along the rust-colored earth and shale,
a beautifully bright snail
whose name was Gail
set sail.
Gail was on her way to a sale –
she hoped she would make it without fail,
but it really was to no avail…
Do you know how slow a snail does travail?
But who needs to fight tooth and nail
when you already blaze a trail
that is off the scale…?
Look at you Gail – you will prevail!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

I really like the angle you used for the snail. Not stereotypical. 🙂

But when she started feeling frail
She thought to herself – Oh what the “hale”
And hitched a ride with a killer whale.
Love the shell on this picture. 🙂

Good Morning, Jodi! While Benjamin likes Gail the Snail, he thought that you should be told ” it’s cute, but that’s not an animal!” He does love the story. I told him that it was a special picture for a little girl. He says “that’s good!” You can always count on Benjamin to keep you informed, in case you have questions. Thank-you for this sweet addition.

One of Benjamin’s oft used lines is “Gem, I have an idea.” Well, he requested me to tell Jodi his idea. “Do a chipmunk, because that’s an animal.” So, there is Benjamin’s Idea of the Day!

Jodi, I’m loving your animal paintings and have come to look forward to each new one. The poems are just an added bonus. As others have commented, I love looking at Gail from ‘behind’, such an unusual perspective.

Gail has wonderful colors for a snail. Is the trail from her tail the same? 😆

I belatedly realized the little girl that I told Benjamin about is you! I did not intend to offend you. But hopefully, don’t we still retain some of that “little girl” somewhere deep inside ourselves?

We can all take a lesson from Gail! 💞
She faces her slowness and path ahead with verve and keeps on going! I like my grandies’ hermit crab who decides to try on different shells they boil and make sure are clean for her “to change clothes” in.
