On Hospitality…
“True Hospitality
is when people leave
feeling better about
themselves –
not better about
you.”
– – Shauna Niequist
My hope is that all who enter my home leave feeling better about themselves.
Better because they felt welcomed….. loved…….. and comfortable.
Better because their bellies were filled with yummy food.
Better because we shared good wine or good coffee.
Better because we laughed.
Better because we could be our authentic selves.
Better because we shared and created memories.
Better because they know they are always welcomed back.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Such a wonderful quote on what hospitality is, or should be. How we make others feel about themselves says a lot about who we are.

Beautiful sentiments!! The welcome mat must always be out at your house. I never knew that a pineapple was the symbol of welcome and hospitality until I came to Rhode Island. The history of this is fascinating, isn’t it? Your watercolor pineapple is fantastic. Now a few words from Benjamin: “I love the pineapple, but where is the story?” He wanted to go visit the Panda, then the Elephants, then both dogs and back, back , back! Each time he asked “but, where is the story?” I tried to make up stories reading the posts, sadly he didn’t buy it! So now, we are going to revisit Earl and co. Thank-you!!

Sorry for Benjamin! 😐 He is likely not very pleased with the Jodi stories lately – LOL!

Benjamin wants to come back because he is worried that “Jodi is sad” about what he said! He does become concerned that he has made someone “sad” or “cross”, admirable quality in a 3 1/2 yr. old. He is worried that you might not be able to do “more animals and stories” if you are sad! He says, “Jodi, don’t be sad!”

Awh! Not sad at all, but feel bad disappointing him as my recent animal rhyme series is done for a while at least. Prepping for a fall festival now and have to look into publishing at some point. All this while working a very busy full-time job! 🙂 What a sweetie Benjamin is. I just hate disappointing him with no animal rhymes. I’m a pleaser too LOL!

Pineapple Love Jodi! Well done! My mother taught me pineapples are the symbol of hospitality and encouraged me to choose a pineapple embossed china for our wedding china, and I still love it to this day! I’m sure everyone that visits your house leaves full of food and happiness, don’t you keep homebaked cookies in your freezer? 😘

How lovely of your mom to recommend that! and YEP – I almost always have some home-baked cookies ready to offer.

Beautiful painting, quote, and message. Love that and thinking about it you are totally right when we visit someone or have them in our home, we wasn’t them to leave full of good memories & feeling as if they have enjoyed themselves AHS been taken care of. It’s a wonderful sentiment!

One more time! Benjamin got up from his nap earlier and said: “Gem, I have an idea! Turn on your computer to Jodi and I will make her happy.” So, I did and Benjamin climbed onto the desk and kissed your little picture after the first comment. “Now, she is happy!” and off he ran. It always works for me!!

That is a wonderful poem quote. And your painting is beautiful and large. Do you plan to hang that one in your house? It would be lovely to have the quote on the painting. This quote I have to put in my journal, with credit to you of course, if you will approve.
