Lately…
Lately, I’ve been reading
“The Storyteller”
by Jodi Picoult.
It has touched my heart deeply,
profoundly moved my soul,
and makes my hands
want to bake Chocolate Babka.
It’s made me consider,
“Inside each of us is a monster.
Inside each of us is a saint.
The real question
is which one of them will
we nurture the most?
Which one will smite the other?”
Lately, I’ve been binge-watching
Bloodline
on Netflix.
It’s made me realize
how past family secrets
and hurtful lies
can cause lasting scars
and shatter lives.
Lately, Hubby was out of town
on a business trip.
Not far. Not long. But not here.
It’s made me realize
how much I truly miss
the little things
I too often
complain about.
Lately…
I’ve been thinking about
a new perspective.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Great poem!! Reflective and inspiring, sometimes we all need to take.time to think about our perspective. Have a wonderful Tuesday Jodi! ❤

A nice morning meditation. I’ve noticed the sun rising later as well, especially this morning for some reason. Autumn on the way. (K)

Yes – days are getting shorter and the sounds and smells and sights of autumn are creeping in.

Very well said. Sometimes We have to stay away from something to make ourselves realize their importance in our life.. We often over look small things in life that actually give meaning to it.

Beautiful words and thoughts this morning, Jodi. Lovely post! I’ve been moving so fast lately I don’t think I’ve taken enough time to meditate on what’s even happening. Thanks for the reminder. 💕

Jodi Picoult – a favorite author and another special Jodi! I read “The Storyteller” about 3 or 4 years ago, when it was just published. It is a little different than most of her books, but very good. A very insightful and sentimental post this morning that inspires seeking a new perspective! Beautiful words and a beautiful photo. Thank-you!

I started The Story Teller over a year ago listening to it on an audio book. I got through a good part of it but never finished it. I do remember she got a little crazy with the monster in the woods thing. The theme was excellent. I highly recommend Small Great Things. But Jodie I shall revisit The Storyteller.
Indeed profound post in every sense. Reflection is a wonderful way to put life in perspective.

Thanks so much! I will look forward to Small Great Things when I finish Storyteller. Anxious for ending as I hear mixed reviews……. But want to savor along the way – like all good books…

What a beautiful photo and poem, Jodi! ❤️ Seems we are both feeling a bit introspecive lately, huh? 😊 I haven’t read a good book in awhile but I like Jodi Picoult. Maybe once things slow down this fall, I can do some reading. 🍂🍁

Everything we do can have a ripple effect.
I have read The Four Aggeements by Don Miguel Ruiz, which simplifies the path to a fullfilled and happy life.
1. Be impeccible with your word
2. Take nothing personally
3. Don’t make assumptions
4. Always do your best
Give it a read if you have a chance.

Mary – I just looked into this book before replying. It sounds amazing, and I have already ordered it. I fail at all four of these so far. Can’t wait to read it. Thank you for this recommendation.

I returned to this post to copy the quote and was wondering if you know the origin, is it unknown or perhaps your own? I love quotes and wish I had the ability to be profound, sadly I do not! The only words that are remotely close, often repeated to my children growing up (and I hope that I haven’t plagiarized) – “Today is the Tomorrow that you thought about Yesterday.” I would change “thought” with worried, dreaded or whatever worked at the moment. Sorry, too much rambling again!

In the words of Winnie the Pooh … “Oh, bother”! The quote is from the book, I can’t believe that I did not remember that until now! This leads me to believe that I should read it again and find out what else I’ve forgotten. I’m copying it down because it is profound!

awh! lol! I have another quote I am sharing in a day or too. I am only about 1/4 into the book and am so affected by it already.

that’s a great quote you made and shared with your children! The quote about monsters and saints within this post is from “The Storyteller” by Jodi Picoult by the character Reiner/Josef. And PS you are amazingly profound! 🙂

Isn’t it wonderful the way a book, a film, or even a conversation can result in a new perspective? And then we are changed in a profound way…..

Indeed! It is what makes life so interesting and helps us to grow and change. Without exposure to outside sources, how could we evolve or grow – huh?

Great photo! That’s a pretty good book. She’s one of those writers that takes on difficult topics and does it well. Nineteen Minutes was a tough but good read,
