Lately…
Lately, I’ve been reading
“The Storyteller”
by Jodi Picoult.
It has touched my heart deeply,
profoundly moved my soul,
and makes my hands
want to bake Chocolate Babka.
It’s made me consider,
“Inside each of us is a monster.
Inside each of us is a saint.
The real question
is which one of them will
we nurture the most?
Which one will smite the other?”
Lately, I’ve been binge-watching
Bloodline
on Netflix.
It’s made me realize
how past family secrets
and hurtful lies
can cause lasting scars
and shatter lives.
Lately, Hubby was out of town
on a business trip.
Not far. Not long. But not here.
It’s made me realize
how much I truly miss
the little things
I too often
complain about.
Lately…
I’ve been thinking about
a new perspective.

Very well said. Sometimes We have to stay away from something to make ourselves realize their importance in our life.. We often over look small things in life that actually give meaning to it.

Jodi Picoult – a favorite author and another special Jodi! I read “The Storyteller” about 3 or 4 years ago, when it was just published. It is a little different than most of her books, but very good. A very insightful and sentimental post this morning that inspires seeking a new perspective! Beautiful words and a beautiful photo. Thank-you!

I started The Story Teller over a year ago listening to it on an audio book. I got through a good part of it but never finished it. I do remember she got a little crazy with the monster in the woods thing. The theme was excellent. I highly recommend Small Great Things. But Jodie I shall revisit The Storyteller.
Indeed profound post in every sense. Reflection is a wonderful way to put life in perspective.

I am often introspective. Always thinking about the meaning of life, my purpose, what I can do better, how I can spread some joy…. I am just a thinker. LOL! not always good. 🙂

I have read The Four Aggeements by Don Miguel Ruiz, which simplifies the path to a fullfilled and happy life.
1. Be impeccible with your word
2. Take nothing personally
3. Don’t make assumptions
4. Always do your best
Give it a read if you have a chance.

I returned to this post to copy the quote and was wondering if you know the origin, is it unknown or perhaps your own? I love quotes and wish I had the ability to be profound, sadly I do not! The only words that are remotely close, often repeated to my children growing up (and I hope that I haven’t plagiarized) – “Today is the Tomorrow that you thought about Yesterday.” I would change “thought” with worried, dreaded or whatever worked at the moment. Sorry, too much rambling again!
