The BEST Summer Sammie.
My tomatoes
are FINALLY
ripening!
We planted
a bit late
this year.
But
it was well worth
the wait.
I can now
eat my FAVORITE
summer sammie…
For breakfast,
lunch,
or dinner!
Fresh tomato slices,
fresh sweet basil,
and toasted ciabatta slathered with mayo.
Who needs a burger?
Who needs a dog?
When these rubies and golds have finally arrived!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Not a tomato fan BUT I am a fan of your posts and I love how your excitement comes through in your poem. 🙂 Have a Great Day!

Our Romas and cherry tomatoes are running amok; I’ve already frozen three bags of them. Thanks for this recipe; can’t wait to try it out! 🙂

There is nothing in the world that can compare to a sun warmed tomato right off the vine!! I loved them best eaten with a sprinkle of salt, the juice running over my fingers, while sitting on my Gram’s porch steps with a sibling. My Gram grew all sorts of tomatoes, but always the yellow ones for my Dad. My summer sammie was tomato on toast swimming in mayo…pure heaven on earth. Your Best Summer Sammie certainly challenges mine and I am always up for a challenge. Thank-you for this delightful post and mouth-watering photo. Now, off to the farmer’s market to find those elusive yellow tomatoes.

Just wondering…how do you protect your garden from furry poachers? My feeble attempts became a backyard deli for the critters. Now, I’m all about giving a helping hand, just not the entire arm. Even potted tomatoes on the deck met the same fate; hence, the tomatoes from the farmer’s market. P.S. No yellow tomatoes, I searched in vain. So, it’s red heirloom tomatoes for the challenge sammie instead!

Sorry you couldn’t get yellow but red is delish too. ❤️👍😉. We out a fence around our garden. No other way around it. 😗

Hello Jodi, I’ve missed your posts! I see them fly by on FB when I’m on my phone. Just sooo busy! But I bought a squash and zucchini from the Farmer’s Market yesterday, and I’m looking up that fantastic recipe next! Miss you! xoxoxo

Oh, there is nothing like a home grown tomato!! 🍅 Lucky you!! I didn’t get any planted this year. 😉 My favorite Sammie is turkey and monteray jack cheese on a hoagie bun with a slice of fresh tomato. Mix a little olive oil with balsamic vinegar and fresh basil and pour on top of the tomato. Broil until the cheese melts. Heavenly… 😍

I’m a fan of tomatoes and eggs. Sometimes I scramble eggs with a little cheese, salt, pepper, paprika and dice tomatoes to stir in the bowl with them. Oh…so…good!
Or, I toast an English muffin, add fried eggs, cheese, tomato with those same spices and sometimes some avocado. Oh, so stinking good. Yep, tomorrow morning can’t get here quickly enough. I know what I’m having.

My favourite too (but no mayo … I know – it’s a sin in the USA, but I don’t like it in sarnies as we call them in England) …. my mouth is watering … time to hop to the market and get some more tommies!

I have a lot of tomatoes, but all are still very green. If the weather does as predicted, I will need to cover them tonight and tomorrow night to protect them from frost. Waaaaay too early for that. 😦
Have a wonderful weekend!
