Flames of crimson, pomegranate, and persimmon,
ambered gold, chartreuse, and mossy greens
struggle to compete with the saturated sapphire sky
marbled with softly suspended cottony clouds.
The intensity of the beauty surrounding me
almost overwhelms my senses.
My eyes and my mind try to absorb it all
as if snapping photos in a continuous burst mode
trying to find a special place to store them
to remember on a dark, dreary day
when my heart can’t remember the bright warmth
or the splendorous display of Autumn’s kaleidoscope of color.

Wonderful poem and lovely photo! It has been years since I have driven up through Colorado to see the spectacular colors of the aspens. I need to do that again!

the sky is sooooooooo blue in autumn. The colors this past week and the beautiful weather has really taken my breath away. It is raining today – and that’s okay -because I have a reel of this beauty in my mind 🙂

We did have our heads in both the clouds and the brilliance of leaves changing into lovely colors.

It sure would be, Jodi. A few years ago I wrote a blog called, “I want that job!” It involved naming automobile colors. I once owned a cinnamon glaze Neon, there’s a sedan maker who called one of their car colors “desert sand” and I had about thirty names I collected while working in the “aerosol room” in our five building’s long auto parts warehouse. 😊
