Sometimes…

Art is just feeling.

And no explanation is needed.

There is such a freedom
in simply creating
feeling.

No concern
of whether
someone else

will like…
will understand…
will appreciate…

But such emotion is expelled.

It is like an untold,
secret story
that is released from the soul.

  4. Art speaks to each of us in different ways, and sometimes the same. When I opened this post and looked at the painting, before reading the words…along the right side I saw the form of my unborn child of 42 yrs. ago. As the tears are sliding down my face, Benjamin came in and climbed up on my lap to look at the picture. “Don’t be sad,Gem, look at the baby” he said while pointing to the same spot. Then, as I read your words, it is indeed – an untold, secret story that is released from the soul! Thank-you for this most beautiful of gifts from your soul.

      • Oh, my heart…I was coming back to add that I just realized that today is All Souls Day! I don’t know if that has any meaning to you, it certainly does for me. I truly believe that his soul reached to me from Heaven through your painting. Thank-you, dear Jodi, from my heart!

    • It’s hard – many of us want our art to be liked – we want to be liked – I do – I know it – I wish I didn’t feel that way – bit it’s the truth – but I am trying to let go of that. Gotta work on it every day. 🙂

  11. Absolutely Gorgeous Jodi as Dee creative expression and as a modern art type painting. I think you should have an art show. That would be so cool and think your paintings are that good. Water color is so hard to get right (in my opinion) and you have so much flourish and talent at it.

  15. Over and over all day long, I have been drawn back to this painting. As I am sitting in bed reading a novel, my tumultuous thoughts keep returning here. Suddenly, out of the great beyond comes this question that begs an answer. So, once again, I return to pose this question to you. What, dear Jodi, did YOU see in your painting upon completion? Or, was it simply the release of emotion on paper that was not meant to portray anything in particular and yet, everything? I’m not sure why it matters, but it seems that it does. P.S. FYI…your art and yourself are not just liked, but also LOVED!!

    • Oh Dear Ellen – it might take you hopping on a plan and visiting Mars and us sharing a bottle of wine to tell you all the emotions I feel when looking at this afterwards. I totally see your sweet baby, but I also see a child (me) who had to let so much out, had to give up so much, had to let go of so much, to become who I am.

      I write and share to encourage others, but please know I am also “encouraging” myself along the way.

      It is a journey of self-discovery that I get to share here. And I am so blessed to do so.

      I wish I could tell you how blessed I am by your presence here! You will never know how much it means to me as I cannot express it!
