Cozy Cabin Winter Wonderland.
I stole away early Saturday morning before the day got too busy and allowed myself some time to paint.
Everything seems to get so busy and stressful this time of year. Work schedule… holiday shopping and preparations… All wonderful things, but busy nonetheless.
And it seems my painting is one of the things that takes a back seat in times like this. Understandably so – but still something I miss.
So I’m trying to allow myself at least once a week to stow away in my art room for an hour to relax and do what I enjoy so much – watercolor painting – something – anything – as long as I can put some paint and water to paper.
This week, I painted this cozy little cabin in the wintry woods… maybe wishing for the coziness and relaxation that it evokes.
When finished, I thought it would make a lovely Christmas or Holiday Card or even thank you note for holiday gifts, so I’ve added this painting and prints and cards to our McKinneyX2Designs Etsy shop.
We were away this past weekend and awoke Sunday morning to a beautiful blanket of snow. When we returned home, however…. no snow.
So I’ll just pretend, for a while, that I’m snuggled under a fleece blanket by a fire in this cozy cabin while the snow is falling outside, and then I’ll go about my busy work and holiday schedule – feeling thankful for it all!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

I love your snowy scene Jodi! Yes, it’s just perfect for this busy time of year to make us stop and pause. I adore your entire rustic cabin scene and even spied a cardinal! Lovely!!

Thank you Kelly! Glad you noticed that little cardinal. I always try to add just a dab of something red, and though it’s hard to tell from the photo – it is a red cardinal. Thanks for noticing.

Jodi, I love this painting! It’s really good and I love the setting. Maybe next time you can paint the cozy setting inside from the window or near the fireplace. I’d love to see It!

Absolutely beautiful. This how I imagine a perfect snow day, not the slushy roads and frozen cars and Salt slung all over and plow trucks roaring. This is very peaceful and calm. Love it!

Beautiful! And I checked weather this morning and found, to my surprise, that we are now looking at snow four days out of the next seven here in southeast Ohio…I would not be surprised if you got some, too!

Really?! I almost didn’t post as I feel so rusty and out of practice with painting and thought it looked a bit juvenile. I’m glad it resonated with you.

Benjamin loves “the jolly snowman”! He saw the “bird in the tree” and “the pretty candles in the windows” too. He’s quite observant! He is all about snow since playing during and after Winter Storm Benji this weekend. We both love your painting!! Thank-you x 2!!

I’m glad you’re making sure you have time to paint at least once a week. We all need a little time now and then to step off the treadmill and do something we truly enjoy. And besides, the paintings you come up with are so very good! I love the cozy cabin and the cheerful snowman, and especially the colors you used. It’s perfect!
