Owning our story can be hard, but not
nearly as difficult as spending our
lives running from it. Embracing our
vulnerabilities is risky, but not nearly
as dangerous as giving up on love
and belonging and joy – the experiences
that make us the most vulnerable. Only
when we are brave enough to explore
the darkness will we discover
the infinite power of our light.
One of my favorite Christmas gifts (heck – every gift is my favorite), but this one really speaks to my heart and was from the heart of someone who really gets me. It is a quote from a favorite book – Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown.
It is hanging in a place where I will read it every day, and this will be my mantra – to own my story, to embrace my vulnerabilities, and to not be afraid to explore the darkness, so I can discover my authentic light.
Will you make a New Year’s Resolution? Do you have a mantra or a life verse? Do you choose One Little Word each year?
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
What a beautiful gift … those words (from that exceptional book) really resonate and now you have them to hang in a place where they will speak whenever you need them too

What a beautiful gift Jodi. I have listened to Brene on one of her Ted talks but I have not read this book. I may have to have a read! There are are a few mantras that resonate with me but the one I read on sign I made every day is “Love the Life You In”. ❤️

Our stories are us, all the many details. It does take time to embrace these details, doesn’t it. Thank you Jodi, for your many posts of awareness and love through the year. Xxoo

I don’t do resolutions, or pick a word. But I love this quote Jodi. And believe it.

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Theodore Roosevelt. This has been my annual New Year’s Resolution for many, many years. It is hanging on my bedroom wall…a goal to accomplish each day and to review my progress every night. I have never believed that I was destined to save the world, just to improve my little corner of it. I would like to believe that I have contributed in some small way. Your quote is from a marvelous book, as you already are aware. Thank-you!

Very special Jodi~ I decided my resolution is going to be to just enjoy every moment, which is actually quite similar to your quote, another embrace the bad as well as the good type thing…Happy New Year Jodi

Mine will be “focussing”, as this is my biggest weakness. Hope I will succeed… But yours is very good as well, I should probably add something like that.

Hi Jodi, I enjoyed your post today – well, I enjoy all your posts! Lol! 😊 I like to take a little time at the end of the year and reflect on it. I have extra time this year because I came down with the flu! Ugh! 😳 I have chosen a word in years past but unless I look at it every day, I forget… 🤔 I like to create goals for each new year, even if I may not get to them all. 😃 One of my goals for next year is to pay attention to the small joys in life. Live with intention. ❤️

So lovely, Jodi! What a wonderful, heartfelt mantra! For the past five years, I have chosen ‘One Little Word’ to guide me through each year. It has been such a powerful tool for growth and discovery! My ‘word’ for 2018 found me a few weeks ago. Can’t wait to reveal it in the new year! Wishing you and your family a New Year filled with healthy, happy days! ♡
