Upon Closer Inspection

Upon Closer Inspection.

It may appear
to be just a rock
sitting amidst the flower bed

Like so many
things we are used to seeing,
but fail to really notice.

Take some time…
Don’t overlook
the whole universe of activity.

Take the time
to notice the details
you’d otherwise miss…

Upon closer inspection.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

  1. Yes, there are a lot of things in life that we tend to take for granted or to overlook. It is not until we take more time to inspect things just a bit closure do we discover other new and interesting things that in the past we merely just took for granted .

  2. Sometimes Benjamin simply amazes me! As soon as I opened this post and he saw the photo : “Wow Gem, that’s some nice moss and lichen!” How does he know this? “I asked Daddy!” This should be no surprise, coming from the boy who spends most of his outdoor time bent over exploring and questioning everything in his path. I would have called it fungus, lichen has a much nicer ring to it. For the inquisitive child in each of us, there is still much to learn from the world… upon closer inspection. Thank-you for the reminder!

  3. Jodi, taking a closer look became so apparent to me when I took a photography course last year. Each week we were given an assignment, usually a word of some sort. From there, we were asked to step outside of our box to photograph something that represented that word & then enter a caption about it. It was such an interesting process as often I found myself discovering or seeing things I otherwise would have never even notice.

  4. So true, Jodi. The more you look, the more you see. I used that phrase earlier today as I was looking into the Lake. I saw a fish, then another, then two more – and then what looked like hundreds of little ones. Normally, I’m lucky to see only one.
Best thing – keep your eyes open! And don’t just look… see! 😀
