The Best Mother’s Day Gift

Grandma’s Bleeding Heart – A Mother’s Day Flower

The Best Mother’s Day Gift.

When I was a young, extremely naive, stay-at-home mom
to two energetic and spirited little boys,

the perfect Mother’s Day “gift” would have been
an hour or two of peace and quiet all to myself to do whatever I pleased.

But now that I am an older, experienced, working-outside-the-home mom
to two amazing and independent young men,

and have gained two “daughters”
and a granddaughter too…

the perfect Mother’s Day “gift” has become
an hour or two of time together

to love and laugh and appreciate
the greatest gift of all…

The gift of
being a Mom!

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

  1. Happy Mother’s Day! Of course, I must add a quote. These are words from the “other” Jodi. “My Mother…she is beautiful, softened at the edges and tempered with a spine of steal. I want to grow old and be like her.” – Jodi Picoult… me too! I love Bleeding Hearts, my Gram had them growing everywhere. Thank-you!

  2. Happy Mother’s Day, Jodi! this is so true…I think the needed time when we were raising our kids was to stay sane and preserve ourselves and now that we’ve been through it, we need just the opposite! I hope you had a wonderful day with your sons, husband, daughters in law and grandbaby!

  3. So true! I was the same way…as a young, at-home mom, I often wanted a couple hours to myself on Mother’s Day. Now that my kids are grown and I have a grandson, nothing makes me happier than spending time with them. Glad you had a good mother’s day, Jodi!
