Golden Beauty.
Most all the trees are bare with
their leaves now carpeting the ground.
Except this golden beauty
who decides each Autumn to make a statement.
It’s a standout amidst the others
in their stripped bare dormant state.
It’s like the late bloomer
who was awkward as a child
But is now the greatest beauty
as its come into its own.
It’s like the last crop
of buttery golden sweet corn
that bursts with the most intense flavor
as if it knows it will be the taste that lingers until the next season comes.
It’s like the brightest sunshine
lighting up the Autumn day
that knows the days are growing shorter,
so it must glow brilliantly while it can.
It’s like the golden rings
worn by the elderly couple
that represent the long-lasting commitment
through richer and poorer, sickness and health, good times and bad.
Thank you golden beauty
for reminding me once more
that hanging on or being last
is sometimes worth the wait.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Wow. There’s always one that likes to stand out. What a beauty!

Stunning! Why does it seem like Autumn is the fastest season? I’d like to hold onto the brilliant color just like this pretty tree does for a tad longer. Love your picture Jodi, thanks for sharing.

“If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then Autumn would be the magic hour.” – Victoria Erickson. Benjamin and I spent 3 hours raking the first fallen leaves into piles in my yard yesterday and it was green again. By the time his Mommy brought the leaf bags, it was already raining. This morning the piles were sodden lumps and we can begin raking again tomorrow, the yard is covered and the rain is bringing more and more falling leaves. Benjamin will be delighted, Gem less so! The tree truly is a beauty, but no more so than the lovely “voter” pictured on the side. Thank-you!

Oh boy – they are a battle to rake. The bad with the good – eh? We have a big yard, so hubby uses a tractor and sucks them up here. We’d rake our hands raw if not – lol! Yep – went and voted first thing this morning. Glad I got it in. Now we wait and see what happens…. Love to you and Benjamin.

Love your words, Jodi, and of course the beautiful picture/tree! Autumn is such a special time of the year with its own magic and beauty! “Being last” reminds me of me always being one of the last ones to leave a party in the morning – I loved walking home while the birds started to sing and the break of day. It is the most magic time of the day, and I still love it – but now rather getting up than going home 😉
