Reflections of Thanksgiving.
Babies growing too quickly.
A loved one’s final day.
Family time together.
Thoughts of family apart.
Sons have become men
that make us gleam with pride.
Daughter in laws grow dearer
with each passing year.
Hubby’s smoked turkey
woos the crowd again.
Granddaughter’s first apple pie
sweetens meal’s end.
Pumpkin pie for breakfast
with a bestie and “our” mom.
Cocktails with our faves
to consummate a just-right day.
Waists growing thicker.
Hair becoming greyer.
Embracing the vulnerability.
Loving fiercely.
Reflections of Thanksgiving.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Woke at 3:30 am. Didn’t have and wasn’t going to post today but these thoughts wouldn’t let me sleep. And it was so beautiful to wake at 4am and snuggle under a blanket with coffee and pour out the words on my heart in the quiet and stillness and peace and gratitude of the morning ❤️

I’m glad you let your mind wander and you posted after all. It is the early hours in the AM that brings out my best creative thought. We are uncluttered and at that time.

Yes. Tree went up today. But also a funeral this afternoon. Baptism yesterday. The circle of life ❤️

Yes. It sure is the circle of life. Sorry about the funeral. How wonderful there is a baptism! That is exciting that your tree went up. It is so much fun to decorate for Christmas!

The last two lines say it all about our human frailty, but also the courage to be cheerful and confident in the face of decay! Great reflections on Thanksgiving, Jodi!

Yes. One of my best friend’s mom is on hospice. She is like a mom to me. I took a pumpkin pie over in the morning and the three of us had coffee and pumpkin pie bedside with her. She ate the whole piece with lots of whipped cream. ☺️. It is the most she’s eaten in a while. We laughed, and we cried. It was a great blessing. ❤️

Beautiful, Jodi! Family changes, with losses and gains. But we move on, remembering the ones who are gone and treasuring the ones who are still here.

Your photo is beautiful, snuggly polar bear & glamor, glitzy wintery sparkle. Love your poem, reflections…. So well done. Could picture every step of the way. So concise, so vivid. I lost my brother this time of year & I ache with memories of him. But the memories are of the wonderful things he did. Blessings to you & your family. All the love thru good times & sad times. Grateful for the time our lives intertwine on this journey thru life.
