Healing

Healing.

Healing
begins
with
gratitude,
compassion,
and
love.

At the urging of one of my besties, I watched a Netflix documentary called “HEAL.”  HEAL takes us on a scientific and spiritual journey where we discover that our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions have a huge impact on our health and ability to heal. The latest science reveals that we are not victims of unchangeable genes, nor should we buy into a scary prognosis. The fact is we have more control over our health and life than we have been taught to believe. This film will empower you with a new understanding of the miraculous nature of the human body and the extraordinary healer within us all. HEAL not only taps into the brilliant mind’s of leading scientists and spiritual teachers, but follows three people on actual high stakes healing journeys.

I was highly and very personally impacted by this film on many levels – emotional, physical, and spiritual.  I thought of friends struggling with cancer and chronic disease and the various issues I live with.  I thought of my childhood and how parental relationships have affected my life.  I thought about the power of prayer and my spiritual beliefs.  I will be thinking about this for a while, and I am so glad I watched it.

Have any of you seen it?  Would love to hear your thoughts.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

  1. It was an eye opening documentary. I have tried some these techniques and I can tell you what a wonderful impact on my life they have had. First easy step, when you wake up say out loud or in your head 5 things you are grateful for. Big, little or the same everyday, start your day with gratitude. The u inverse works in amazing ways. I dont usually read Jodi’s blog in the morning, yet today I had the time. I am grateful every day for Jodi (one of my besties) and all the people in my life.

  2. Jodi, I watched it about a month ago and have also recommended it to a number of people. I have recently introduced some meditation into my life and although I am not great at it, I continue to try as I do think it is an important practice for us to adopt.

  3. That is the basis to the “placebo” effect. i.e. If you are convinced that a pill will cure you … then, in many cases, it will. It has nothing to do with the pill, and everything to do with the mindset. I believe the same applies to prayer, yoga, and many other activities with a self-healing context. I lead a very busy retirement life and so have no time for colds and flu! Over the past few years I have had an occasional sneeze, but nothing has ever developed from that. I believe that to is a result simply of a mind set.
Of course there is a reality than we cannot fix everything, but a positive mindset can certainly resolve a lot of issues … and improve your life. What more could we want … and self healing can be free! Great Post Jodi.

  4. I have not seen this movie, but I am intrigued by the description and will make a point of watching it.

The comments I am reading made me think of a book I read a few years ago, A Simple ACT of Gratitude – How Learning to Say Thank You Changed my Life, by John Kralik. It is an easy read with a powerful message, much like the movie you mention.

  5. Simply gorgeous photo.
Haven’t seen the movie, but Dr Oz had a show last week introducing a similiar idea. However, I have witnessed healing “miracles” as defined by doctors & medical staff.

  6. Will go and watch. My husband and I really believe in positive thought and making life changes to solve things that might otherwise rely on medicines or opting out. We like risk taking and pushing ourselves. My worst nightmare is being mundane and giving up on hopes and dreams.

  7. This documentary was recommended to me by a neighbor back in early 2018, it was unknown by me at the time. I purchased the DVD soon after and have since shared it with my whole family and many friends. I have always, throughout the 45 years of my nursing career and now in retirement, been an advocate of accept the diagnosis but not the prognosis. To give up in anything that life throws at you is to admit defeat and lose, that has always been unacceptable to me. This provides tools and sound advice on how to do just that. It may interest you to know, if you do not, that “Heal” The Book is being released later this year. Thank-you!

  8. It’s true that placebos are often just as effective as medicine, even when the person knows it’s a placebo. There’s so much we don’t know about how the mind affects the body. Gratitude and meditation are powerful tools.
On the other hand, we should not get pulled into making people think if they can’t get well it’s their own fault for not having the right attitude. I’ve seen that happen too, and it’s devastating. (K)

  9. I haven’t seen it, but I would love to! I do believe that we have more power over our lives than most of us realize. We don’t have to be defined by our past, and we don’t have to be passive patients either. We can choose to be as whole and happy as we possibly can!
