Weathered

Weathered Barn along a Country Road in Western Pennsyvlania

Weathered.

The stories this weathered barn
could tell
are likely
more than we can imagine.

Much like the lines
on beautiful, weathered faces
we appreciate so much…
(until they are our own).

On a day like September 11th,
which in the U.S. has become known as 911,
we cherish weathered barns
and weathered faces.

Remembering and honoring those
who didn’t survive
the opportunity
to grow to become weathered.

Cherish the moments.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

A Precocious Pink Pig

Precious Pink Pig Watercolor 8x10 140lb Saunders Cold Press

Precious Pink Pig Watercolor 8×10 140lb Saunders Cold Press

A precocious pink pig
with the name of Mig
was happily dancing a jig.

She took a zag and then a zig,
and all at once bumped into a twig.
To her sweet surprise, it was bearing a fig!

She had never seen such a thingamajig,
but it sure smelled good, and it was big,
So she voraciously gulped it down with vig!

YUM YUM – to be a Pig!

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Odessa the Owl in Watercolor

Odessa the Barn Owl in Watercolor - 8x10 140lb Cold Press Saunders

Odessa the Barn Owl in Watercolor – 8×10 140lb Cold Press SaundersOdessa the Owl – A Wise Old Barn Owl in Watercolor.

A blogging friend, Carolyn, at Nuggets of Gold, challenged me to paint an owl in watercolor.  But not just any ole’ owl…

This had to be Odessa the very wise barn owl who is a character in a book she is collaborating on with another blogging friend, Colin, at A Dog’s Life.

I’m not sure if this is how she pictured Odessa, but this is how I do, so this is a little surprise for her.

If you want to learn more about the wise (and wise-cracking) Odessa and her friends at MoonBeam Farm, check out Carolyn’s blog to read the continuing saga that is soon to become a book!

Jodi

Rustic Barn Weddings

Gable farm Matted

Gable Farm in Watercolor – 10×14

It’s June, and wedding season is in full swing!

Rustic barn weddings have become very popular in our area.  As a matter of fact, our son and daughter-in-law had a barn wedding three years ago next month.   I had fun creating this watercolor version of Gable Farm, which was their wedding site and a place they have now turned into a venue for others to hold their weddings and receptions.

Colleen has been busy stocking our McKinneyx2Designs Etsy Shop with fun rustic wedding signs made from reclaimed pallet wood.  They are super reasonably priced from $10-14.

Wouldn’t these be great little accents for a rustic barn wedding?

If you or someone you know is looking for rustic wedding signs, hope you will check out our ETSY shop.

We have lots of other great rustic home and nursery decor, as well as some of my watercolor art, prints and greeting cards.

Happy Wedding Season and Happy Weekend!
