far away places
that are soft
and light
and free.
Maybe I’ll go there.

The Old Porch Swing
The Seasons you have endured…
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall.
The Generations you have supported…
Great-Grandparents, Grandparents, Parents, Children, Grandchildren.
The Conversations you have held…
Politics, religion, love and hope and promise, arguments unresolved and resolved.
The Moments you have cherished…
First kisses, proposals, joys and heartbreaks, celebrations and sorrows, announcements and secrets.
Memories of a family.
Memories of an old porch swing.
Harmony.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Hi Friends! Charlie here.
I was really anxious to introduce you to one of my new BFFs, so Mom let me guest post again today. Yippee!!!
“Kitty” is one of my friends I look forward to seeing on my walks with Mom.
We met about two weeks ago, and now we look forward to seeing each other almost every day.
We live about a mile or so apart, but I know when I am getting close to Kitty’s house. I start pulling Mom looking to the other side of the street where Kitty lives, and Kitty comes running out from the porch to the edge of the yard to see me.
Oh how fun it is to sniff and cuddle and visit my friend!
I’ve heard some people say silly things like “fighting like cats and dogs,” and I just don’t get it….
Who wants to fight when we can be friends?!
Cat/Dog… Black/White… Male/Female…Republican/Democrat… Christian/Jew… Rich/Poor… Young/Old… Tall/Short… Thick/Thin…
Why can’t we all just be friends?!
Woofs & Wags,
Charlie

Some days there won’t be a song in your heart….
Sing anyway!

My design team inspiration card this week for The Paper Players Color Challenge #PP270 is a relatively clean and simple card. I made three Christmas cards before I decided I wanted to share this one for my inspiration – a not-Christmas card.

This week’s challenge is to use Black + White + Silver or Gold + One Color, and the other design team members have some awesome inspiration cards (including lots of Christmas cards!)
For my card, I stamped the dragonfly onto watercolor paper in black and then dropped in some W&N Prussian blue watercolor paint (surprise surprise!) very loosely and shook it a bit to make it move and drip. I also threw a few splatters on just for more freedom and artistic flair. Once dried, I added some silver brads to complete the front.
One the inside, I stamped the dragonfly again in Night of Navy stamped off twice before stamping on the third hit to make it more subtle and muted. I then stamped the sentiment on top of it. Just for a bit more sparkle, which you really can’t see in the photo, I brushed this one with the Wink of Stella.
Why do I get a little knot in my stomach
when the days grow a bit shorter,
the air a bit crisper,
the breeze a bit lighter.
It is gentle
and beautiful
and comfortable.
But my heart remembers
summer ending,
school beginning,
Autumn breezes bringing school buses
and schedules and new beginnings.
I recall old endings…
and I am melancholy.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
In the winter months of life,
there comes a balance between hanging on and letting go.
Should we stay or should we go?
Do we get to choose?
What do we have to lose?
My Marty’s 92-year old Aunt lost the second love of her life this week. Her near 93-year old fiance.
Rest in Peace dear Tilford. Thanks for loving Aunt Francie. Thanks for bringing her such joy in the winter years of her life. You will be missed. You were a good man.
Christmas 2007
Hugs,
Jodi
