Nostalgic Santa.
I am getting soooo in the Christmas spirit!
We have had snow and unseasonably cold temperatures lately; and I have to say, I have been loving it!
Ever since I painted my Vintage Santa Face watercolor, I have been itching to do another vintage Santa painting.
So I did! And here he is!
Ho Ho Ho!!

Vintage Santa Face Watercolor.
Hi Friends –
It’s been a hot minute or two (aka almost a month!) since I’ve posted here on my CreativeLifeInBetween blog.
And I have to admit… I have really been enjoying the blogging break.
I have been enjoying lots of time with family and friends and keeping busy at work.
I’ve cried tears of sorrow and loss with a few friends/family who have lost parents recently.
I’ve cried tears of joy as friends celebrated homecomings and moves.
I’ve cried tears of frustration at myself for making stupid mistakes.
I’ve smiled so hard I thought my cheeks would break seeing first time “school” pictures of my sweet grandie girls.
I’ve celebrated and toasted new beginnings and successes with my adult kiddos.
I’ve laughed so hard with friends, it made all the frustrations of the day disappear.
In other words, I’ve been living every day to the fullest and cherishing the moments.
And this weekend, I found time to play in my art room, and I created this Vintage Santa Face Watercolor Painting that I have to say I am sooooo pleased with it makes me smile!
My DIL, Colleen, and I are ramping up and getting ready for our biggest sale of the year at the Mars Fall Craft Show being held Saturday, November 23rd at the Mars High School and Christmas Open House at Berry Vine Gifts November 15-17. We’re also getting ready to celebrate a special birthday for a 3-year old girl and her 61-year old Pap! (Both who I love more than life itself! <3)

Classic Red Truck with Christmas Tree.
Is anybody else starting to think about Christmas?
When my boys were young, I loved getting ready for the Christmas holiday. I would often start playing Christmas music in October… much to Hubby’s dismay.
We prepared letters to Santa, and I shopped and put carts full of toys on “lay-away” months ahead of winter.
My best friend and I went to craft shows and stores and bought santas and snowmen and other holiday decorations, as well as things to make decorations – often while pushing strollers and carrying diaper bags.
I would prepare for “Sammy” the elf to make his arrival at our house and plan out his adventures each night when the boys went to bed to surprise them in the morning.
I created homemade Christmas cards for the boys to color (and later they drew them) to send to friends and family.
I stocked up on sugar and flour and baking supplies when they were on sale and collected festive tins to make hundreds of cookies and dozens of sweet breads and nut rolls to share with friends and neighbors.
As the boys got older, the excitement of Christmas dimmed a bit. We still enjoyed it, but the excitement leading up to it was not the same as when they were young and the magic existed.
But now….. I’m a grandma! And that just makes me absolutely giddy for Christmas again!
And since my daughter-in-law, Colleen, and I have created our McKinneyX2Designs Etsy shop and have started also selling our art at a local gift shop, Berry Vine Gifts, it is so fun to get excited about preparing for Christmas again. And it seems there are others like me out there, because holiday cards and paintings have already sold!
So I’m having fun creating Christmas and holiday art… like this classic red truck with a Christmas tree. Doesn’t it just make you so nostalgic about Christmas?
So even though we are still experiencing 80 degree Autumn days, I’m dreaming of a white Christmas. It’s so fun to dream!

Wishing all the Santas and Elves a peaceful and relaxing day after Christmas.
This is one of my all-time favorite Santas in the collection I have accumulated over the years. A good reminder that even Santa needs a break and some pampering.

(P.S. Remember when doing ceramics was “all the rage?” I still love these three little pencil Santas on the left I painted about 20 years ago. They are hanging out in an antique jelly cupboard in our great room with a bunch of others for the season. I have a bit of a “Santa” thang.)
December 1st already! Where did 2014 go?! I do adore December and decorating for the holidays.
I had fun creating a woodsy rustic setting on the front porch with lots of fresh greenery, wood, red berries, burlap and pine cones in my fave antique crates I got for Mother’s day from Jake and Colleen. Out with the summer ferns, but not putting these beloved crates away. 🙂
The tree is up…
and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care.
This Santa is chillin’ on the mantel with the some others (real Santas drink wine not milk)…
and other Santas pop up in just about every corner.
I love tucking this little ceramic tree in a special corner. It so reminds me of my Grandma.
Snowies are chillin’ too.
