Christmas in July

Just Add Ink Challenge #224

I can’t believe I made a Christmas card…..

in July……

Not at all ready to do the Christmas thing yet – though the crazy chilly weather this week almost makes it feel like Christmas!

Well – that might be exaggerating a bit…  but I did have a sweatshirt  (can you believe SWEATSHIRT) on last evening it was so chilly.  55 degrees F on July 29 in Western PA is CRAZY!  Practically a record low.

When I first saw the Christmas in July Card Challenge at Just Add Ink a few days ago (when the weather was normal 80 degree July weather), I thought – NOPE – no way – not doing this one….

Then, I just kinda got intrigued by the inspiration pictures that were provided to create a card from:

JAI224

and came up with this one.

Well – at least I have my first Christmas card done.

Thanks for the inspiration and the fun Christmas in July Challenge Just Add Ink Team.   Merry Christmas! (in about 147 days)

    • I know, Nikki – still hoping to enjoy lots of summer weather and then a crisp Fall. But it is always nice to think a little Christmas. In fact, there are certain little Christmas touches I leave around my house all year round. Just little things that most might miss, but sweet little reminders of the most fun and happy time of year that Christmas creates. 🙂

  3. These vellum poinsettias look fantastic – I was just talking about making vellum flowers today too. I must give it a go. I do like the background you have created too. Chantell JAI

    • Hi Betsy – I made the poinsettias using the SU Joyful Christmas Stamp which I embossed with a glittery gold onto vellum and then very lightly sponged SU Daffodil Delight (a pale yellow) for the “white” poinsettia and SU Real Red very lightly for the pink/red poinsettia. For the flower centers, I colored tiny pearls with an olive alcohol marker.

  4. I am so glad you decided to join us again Jodi! Your card is gorgeous, soft and lucious! I love the polka dots on polka dots. The Poinsettia is one of my all time favourite Christmas stamps. Now you can say you have made a start on this years cards!! Thanks for playing at JAI ♥

    • That is so funny to consider, Tina. So many of our “images” are of cold and snow and icicles and everything associated with cold. It is interesting to compare cultures, and also to realize how small the world has become with our “world wide web!” 🙂 Thanks for your comment!
