Make a card!
Hi Friends – Yesterday was a “sick day” for me.
It doesn’t happen often, but this head cold has got the best of me right now. I have a whisper of a voice (and for those that know me well know what a challenge this is for me – you know – my quiet, reserved nature… NOT!). My throat just aches, and I am so sick of honey lemon cough drops I could throw up, but they help soothe and quiet the hacking cough. My stuffed up ears are cracking and popping, and I would like to poke holes in them to release the pressure. What a whiner – eh?! Good thing I don’t get sick very often!!
I spent most of the day snuggled with Mikey on the couch watching the snow fall and binge watching crazy stuff on television between cat naps.
I was glad I had this card made and photographed and ready to go for the Friday Mashup Challenge (#193) for today’s post.
The challenge is to:
- Create a project with the “Triple Layer Technique” (For my card-making friends, you can check out a Tutorial HERE for this technique)
- Create a project that’s “Floral”. (I decided lemons with leaves were kinda “floral” – ok – maybe a stretch!)
- or Mash it Up! and create a “Floral Triple Layer Project”.
I decided not to add a sentiment to the front of the card since it already has a lot going on, and this is the simple inside:
For my card, I used Stampin Up Old Olive and Very Vanilla Card Stock, the SU Love Life Stamp Set (same one that had the cute little bird I featured here), the SU En Francais Background Stamp, and had fun with the technique and challenge. I colored the lemons in with a Crushed Curry Marker and the leaves with Old Olive, and some thin black lines and some accents with a white gel marker. I finished it off with a button and some twine.
I really enjoyed the technique of triple layering, and besides being much easier than it looks, there are so many possibilities and variations you can do with this.
…. like life…. right?…
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
So sorry you are sick! Get well soon my friend! I am sure Mikey liked your snuggles 🙂 Great card!

I’m sorry you are feeling so yucky. I hope you are feeling much better today and on the upandup! Head colds are the worst! (For me they usually settle in my chest and bronchial tubes). So…please!… get well soon.
This card is beautiful. You are so creative and artsyfartsy. I love seeing the cards that you create! I hope you have a much better day today than you did yesterday. ((Hugs!!)) xxoo

I hope you’re better soon. It’s not much fun, but gargling with v warm salt water is almost like a miracle cure for the sore throat part. I tried it last year for the first time and was stunned how well those old-fashioned remedies work! Beautiful card. 🙂

Hey, did it help you? Yay, I’m so glad you tried it! Last winter, I got strep and didn’t have time to go to the dr (plus I hate to go, must admit) and actually managed to heal it with this plus drinking lemon and honey in v warm tea. I hope it helped you!

Yes – it seems to be helping and I am drinking Earl Grey with Honey as we “speak” / type 🙂

I’m so happy! I will tell you – when I gargled, I filled a coffee mug with the v warm saltwater, and kept on going until I’d gargled the whole thing. Took about 15 or more minutes and was def. a pain, but it made me feel so great, it was worth it!

Beautiful card Jodi. Feel better, the gym awaits. (Just a suggestion: boil some water in a medium size pot. Place on a hot plate. Put a towel over your head and around the pot of water. Lean over and breath in for a few minutes or as long as feels comfortable. Adding eucalyptus -fresh or oil- is good too.)

Ooo I love the card! Well done, you little creative genius! I am so sorry to hear about your coldy fluey thing… my daughter and family is just coming out of the woods on something similar. Poor things… It is HORRIBLE to have crackly ears and sore throats. Bet well… plenty of Vit C and fluids – you’ll be back to your cheeky and adorable self before long! Mother Hen

Jodi! Not sure if you’re still under the weather. I think I found another miracle cure. Sambucol brand Elderberry syrup. After two doses, I felt great, and after four…I feel like my old self. It’s amazing stuff. Someone recommended it to me and I just thought of you! I hope you’re feeling better and don’t need it though. Hugs.

Laura – you are so so sweet to think of me and share your cure! Thank you 🙂 I think I’ve hit the turn around the corner to healing this afternoon, but I am hoping to stash this idea in my memory bank or maybe even order some for next time. Hubby is starting to cough and has a froggy throat 😐 Yikes!

Glad to hear you’re better but I hope hubby doesn’t get sick too. The sooner he takes it, the better I think. Really boosts the immune system. Some people take it every day to ward off colds/flu but if you’re already sick, the dose is times four. CVS and Vitamin Shoppes carry it, but not every store has it. Good luck and I hope everyone’s better tomorrow!
