My Most Favorite – for 33 years!

33 anniversary card

Today, my hubby, Marty, and I celebrate 33 years of marriage.

Yep – 33 years ago today – a very young and naive 19-year old girl said “I do” for now and forever to a 23-year old boy about as different from her as Eddie and Eva on Green Acres (okay – maybe I wasn’t quite that glamorous and Marty wasn’t quite that Midwest farmer, but we were – and still are – a pretty classic example of opposites attracting.)

And you know what?

He is still my favorite!

Maybe even more so….

I tell people that are going through “stuff” in marriage, there are good days and bad days, good weeks and bad weeks, good months and bad months…

Heck – there are even tough years…

But, you know what?

Life isn’t perfect.

People aren’t perfect.

And marriage and monogamy with that one special someone is a pretty special thing.

And I am so fortunate in so many ways for so many things and so many years and so much love and safety and stability and genuineness and standbyidness….

Yep – Merv (that’s what I call the hubster) – you are STILL my MOST FAVORITE!  (and this is the card I made for him.)

I love ya,
Gert (that’s what he calls me)

I know – we are goofy!  🙂

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

  1. First, congratulations for 33 years of marriage! That is a wonderful thing. 🙂 The card is just beautiful and says a WHOLE lot in just a few words. It says you are still madly in crazy love with your hubby. That is a very special thing. Happy Anniversary!

  2. Awe that is so sweet! 33 years is amazing, congratulations! Many marriages don’t last more than 3 years than more than 7 years are main two benchmarks. Marriage is very hard work and I enjoyed the way you put it here in your post. Thank you for sharing Jodi. Beautiful card too! Best of luck, happy crafting!

    • Thank you, Elle – it is so true! People are often disillusioned on what it is or should be – but when you realize it is not “a fairy tale” and is work and effort, it is so worthwhile, and so much more than the googly fairy tale. Much deeper and more meaningful – and not always lala land 🙂

  3. Congratulations! In our modern times, that length of marriage is a real accomplishment. Wishing both of you the very, very best for many more years to come. 💞

  4. Happy anniversary to you both. My husband and I will be celebrating 40 years this summer. By today’s standard we were also young, 22 and 23 but we made it work. Your words are so true. People often think we have the perfect relationship but we’ve certainly had our share of ups and downs and as we’ve gotten older we’ve had to work even harder because life hits you with so many curves but a lot of blessings as well. Wishing you another wonderful year with your ‘favourite’ man. 🙂

    • Woohoo to almost 40! You so know of what I speak – eh? Moment by moment and count the blessings. Cause there is a lot of yuck in there too – just have to focus on the positive 🙂 Cheers to you and your hubster MC!
