what creeps you out about mourning doves? they are so sweet and gentle and calm… Is it the cooing? a little haunting sounding I suppose…

Yeah, I connect them with death. I’ve seen them come with death in the past twice, and so they’re not my favorite bird lol. Cool eyes though, I really like your photo!

Nice capture and I agree with Almost Iowa, very much a sound of summer. Vegas has plenty of these birds, a sound from home I like to hear.

I love listening to the soft cooing sound they make – I find it soothing! They sit behind my house on the telephone line. I like the blue around the eyes – so beautiful! An amazing photo Jodi! I hope you paint it in watercolor! 🎨

Thanks George – sometimes we can see so much more through the lens of the camera. I love the detail you just don’t notice when observing a mourning dove from afar 🙂
