What a great picture to go with your wonderful poem! Branch out lady! Reminds me of Dr.Seuss’s poem. “You got mountains to climb , get on your way, this is your day! ” Can’t remember all of it exactly, but I think you can figure out what I mean. 🙂 Have a wonderful day!
Love the photo, this tree shows character and determination…the twists and turns of life as evidenced by it’s branches! Love your thoughts..inspirational words to live by! Thank-you!
A maybe not so short story about my own “branching out” from the perspective of a 4 year old. The BenjaGem project – The Buttermilk Pound Cake. My less than stellar attempt can not be blamed on the co-worker, entirely. Going into the oven it looked good, coming out…not so much. It seems that we somehow missed the important ingredient that determines success or failure, the rise or fall, the hopeful beginning and the sad ending. The Baking Soda, this infinitesimal barrier between what is and what might have been. As we surveyed the sight in the bundt pan, Benjamin looked at me sadly and said : Maybe you should not be a baker like Mommy, just be a Gem.” He quite effectively pruned that branch!
oh my goodness – LOL! I can almost picture that little cutie and you looking at your cake….. haha! Oh Ellen – what a smile you brought to my face with this funny little story. I’m guessing it may have at least tasted good anyway?? 🙂
Just be Gem…… oh my…. what more could you want to be?! ❤
What an adorable story. I am with Jodi, What Benjamin says to you about “Just being a Gem” is priceless! That is a quote worthy of my Tuesday’s Thoughts! 🙂
It may amuse you that decades ago I took a Wilton’s Cake Decorating Class and made some spectacular ( she says modestly) Wedding cakes for family and friends. For many years I made Birthday, Baby and Wedding shower, and other celebratory cakes…in my spare time. I suppose one could say that frosting was my artistic medium. Sadly, I have apparently misplaced my baking skills somewhere in time.
Wonderful poem Jodi…I’m branching out this weekend, I’m going tent camping with my daughter and granddaughter. The three of us sleeping in a tent with a dog should bring lots of laughs every night. See you when I return on Sunday,
Love the tree. Your photos are so magnificent, along with your keen sense to spot the unusual beauty. Your poem is so perfect for your current endeavors. You seem to have such an inate ability to finding solutions & providing appropriate advice. You are a most gifted person & a treasure to have crossed paths. Ps. I love the new photo of you, that I have just found. (Could be old) but so nice to see a what you look like. Happy Easter.
Jodi, Nice photo and comment. I totally agree .
