Summer Sunday Morning Mars PA 2018

Perspective.

Walking back home from my next door neighbor’s

On a warm summer Sunday morning

After wading in a kiddie pool

And sipping pretend coffee

And chasing butterflies

Barefoot in the grass

I paused

And smiled

And gratefully sighed

And put things in

Perspective.

Cheers & Hugs,

Jodi

A Different Perspective

A view from atop the hill of the road I walk most every day – Mars, PA – April 1, 2018

A Different Perspective.

For the past 17 years,
I’ve walked the same road.

Each day,
I look for something new.

But sometimes,
we need to veer from that same road

And look at it
from a different perspective.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Lately…

Lately…

Lately, I’ve been reading
“The Storyteller”
by Jodi Picoult.

It has touched my heart deeply,
profoundly moved my soul,
and makes my hands
want to bake Chocolate Babka.

It’s made me consider,
Inside each of us is a monster.
Inside each of us is a saint.
The real question
is which one of them will
we nurture the most?
Which one will smite the other?”

Lately, I’ve been binge-watching
Bloodline
on Netflix.

It’s made me realize
how past family secrets
and hurtful lies
can cause lasting scars
and shatter lives.

Lately, Hubby was out of town
on a business trip.
Not far. Not long. But not here.

It’s made me realize
how much I truly miss
the little things
I too often
complain about.

Lately…
I’ve been thinking about
a new perspective.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Sometimes
we need to look
at things
from a
different
perspective.

The Other Side

Dogwood Tree Blossom, The Other Side, Mars, PA

As you stretch and reach
and open yourself

to the sunshine
after the rain

I admire your beauty
from underneath

And wonder if its really much different
on the other side?

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Moon Lake Thoreau What You See

Today is my brother’s birthday, and this is the card I made and sent to him.  He is a purist and likes simple and uncomplicated things.  He is also a deep thinker, so though this card may not be a “stunner” in the creative artistic sense, I think it is perfect for him.

The StampinUp Moon Lake stamp is stamped onto white paper.  I then overlaid it with vellum that I stamped the sentiment on and stitched it to the white (so you can lift it to see the boat and tree clearer – kinda symbolic of the message if you get my drift).  I added a few clear star stickers to embellish just a bit, framed it up with black and then blue card stock and adhered to a white card base.

I’m thinking of my brother today and wishing him a year full of simple, uncomplicated pleasures and happiness.  I love him dearly.

What do you see today?

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply

Christmas live simply

Trying to keep things in perspective

and remembering to enjoy the journey.

Life Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply.

That is what matters.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

(P.S.  Remember when doing ceramics was “all the rage?”  I still love these three little pencil Santas on the left I painted about 20 years ago.  They are hanging out in an antique jelly cupboard in our great room with a bunch of others for the season.  I have a bit of a “Santa” thang.)
