For the past 17 years,
I’ve walked the same road.
Each day,
I look for something new.
But sometimes,
we need to veer from that same road
And look at it
from a different perspective.

It can be easy
to breeze through life
when you are cruising along
on the wide open, straight path of the highway.
But often times
it is the bumps and dips and obstacles
on the broken roads
that lead to the best and most beautiful things in life.

But straight roads
don’t make skillful drivers.
And flowers can’t grow
on smoothly paved roads.
This road called life
is your path to choose.
And if you don’t like the one you are traveling on….
pave a new.

We had an unseasonably strong thunderstorm this past Saturday night, but Sunday morning brought shiny, clean beauty on my morning walk with Charlie that was made even sweeter by the extra hour of sleep gifted from “Falling Back” from Daylight Savings to Eastern Standard Time and the gorgeous colors of Autumn leaves.
May the road that leads you home
be lit when it is dark,
be clear when things get slushy,
have love to draw you in,
and warmth to melt the chill.
