Besides the fact that I love the taste of sweet, juicy, ruby red pomegranates that have just started showing up these past few weeks in our grocery stores for their seasonal debut, I had a little fun photographing this beautiful, unique fruit.
My Walk with My Camera didn’t take me far today on this rainy fall day.
So I ask – to eat or not eat the entire seed?

Depends on what the seds are like – unpopped popcorn seeds, or soft and chewy? Don’t damage your jaw or teeth. 🙂

Have you ever eaten a pomegranate?

I love to add pomegranate seeds to salads or yogurt since they are so festive and really add a punch of colour. Do you know that if you break your pomegranate (a lot) then drop it in a bowl of cold water, the seeds will float to the top and with a little strainer, you can pick them up more easily? Set them on a paper towel just so they’re not soaking wet, then add to your recipe. Some will probably say that this rids much of the nutrients, but it does save a lot of time.

Thanks for the tips Marguerite. So do you eat the whole crunchy seed then?

Yes, I eat the whole seed. Don’t find it’s too hard and even if you swallow it whole by accident, you don’t choke. I love this fruit!

I eat about half of them, I’d say. They get a little too tannic for my taste but I adore the fruit so much, I’m willing to suffer through it. Aren’t they just the most beautiful thing?
