Shine Brightly.
Amidst the darkness
and the clouds
that try to hide it,
the moon
still
shines brightly.
I want
to be
like the moon.

Full Moon Calling.
When I saw a recent painting done by a favorite artist/blogger friend, Sharon Mann at Make Art… Magic Happens, I told her I loved it so much, it made me want to paint it.
Sweet Sharon encouraged me to do it!
And so I did – and here it is….. A painting I did at 4AM one morning last week when I couldn’t sleep.
Be sure to check out Sharon’s absolutely amazing original version of this, which she titled, Call of the Raven. Sharon has a style very different from mine, but one I absolutely adore and admire. I love the texture she creates. I love the whimsy of her style. I love the range of subjects she chooses to explore and create. And to top it off, she is simply a lovely person!
Sharon was one of the first to send an absolutely amazing handmade gift when I learned I was to become a grandma over a year ago. She painted a photo of a batch of my cookies and gifted me with the beautiful piece of art that has graced my kitchen wall for several years now. She was one of the first few dozen people to purchase my first published children’s book – and then share it to her friends.
About a year ago, Sharon lost her husband and best friend. It was a life-altering experience for her, and she took a break from blogging until just a few weeks ago. It is so wonderful to have her back blogging and inspiring so many of us artist wannabees!
Thank you for allowing me to paint your art Sharon. I enjoyed it immensely! Thank you for your inspiration, encouragement, but most of all your friendship.
Be sure to check out Sharon’s blog. You are in for a real treat and a wonderful new friend!

The Magic of Moonlight.
The full moon’s smoldering glow
illuminates the evening desert sky
Peeking and hiding amidst billowy clouds
in shades of creamy coral and milky opal.
Palm trees elegantly pirouette
with delicate fronds fluttering fluidly
While the wind whispers a soft lullaby
in hushed tones of serene tranquility.
Good night sweet summer day…
sleep peacefully in contented slumber.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Oh the mysteries of the moon and earth
You never realize how quickly our earth is actually rotating
until you try to pause long enough to capture a photo of the moon.
From afar, I always see a face…
the “man on the moon” I called it as a child.
As I look at this photo I took late Sunday evening,
it almost appears as if the moon is a large mirror
reflecting back the earth it sees.
The beauty of nature
It makes you feel small and insignificant
and large and important
all at once.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
Dawn yesterday morning brought a fresh dusting of snow, single digit temperatures, and the brightest beautiful full moon. I threw a coat on over my pajamas, slipped my feet into my rubber crocs, and set my tripod up on the side porch to capture the scene (and oh what a scene it would have been if you would have seen me!).
When my dad called for our daily chat at approximately 7:05ish (he’s a school bus driver in his retirement, and we are making up for lost time, so we talk every morning between his high school and middle school run), he commented on the beautiful moon he was looking at while we were talking.
It made me smile to think we were chatting and sharing the same moon together, if even for only a few moments. Our morning chats are so special. Sometimes I talk the whole time, and sometimes he does. Sometimes we have lots to stay, and sometimes not so much, but it always makes me smile and is such a wonderful way to start my day.
Dad reads my blog every day, but since he gets up at 4:30am and is on the road before my blog posts each day at 6am, he always comments about the post from the day before. I think it’s sweet that he always reads it (and sometimes finds typos for me to fix). But it makes me smile, because he reads every single word – even every ingredient in my recipes (wondering if he would like it as he’s a pretty picky pop). I’m so fortunate to have him in my life as one of my guys.
Hopefully he is smiling reading this (and hopefully there are no typos). 🙂
Happy Friday everyone!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
PS Look for a yummy cookie recipe post tomorrow: Chocolate Sprinkle Cherry Kiss Cookies!
Oh Friday – How we look forward to you each week – so Hello!
Hello Friday!
And it’s Friday the 13th!
And it’s a Full Moon! (also called the Strawberry Moon and the Honey Moon – which is not supposed to occur again for 5 years – so check it out!)
Woooohooo – what excitement may come our way?!
Friday is #FreebieFriday in the StampinUp Where the Rubber Hits the Road Group I belong to. It’s the day we all share a card we made this week to inspire each other.
I love seeing all the creativity and crafty, artistic inspiration from my fellow stampers.
This week, I’m sharing this Kinda Eclectic/Hi There/Gorgeous Grunge Card (those are the names of the three stamp sets I used, but funny how they “kinda” name the card!)
I had a BLAST making and seeing how this turned out. A little off my usual path, but I just kept adding…
Lots of bright colors combined with the contrast of black inked on vellum….
A silver embossed ray of sunshine…
A cut-out starburst cog to go under it and lift it off the paper….
Some gold cord swirled under that and on top of the sliver sunburst…
Then topped it off with some sequins.
I saw something done with some similar techniques on Pinterest and couldn’t wait to try.
I hope it made you smile…
Or brightened your day…
Hello to you – and Hello Friday!
Wishing you all a wonderful Father’s Day weekend ahead.
Enjoy doing all the things you love to do…
with the people you love…
at Life in Between.
Cheers and Hugs,
Jodi
