Babette the Bunny

“Babette” pink-orange-gold-abstract-bunny-watercolor-9×12-140lb-fabriano-artistico

The weather was so warm here for a couple days this week, it felt like Spring!
I don’t remember ever having 60 degree weather in February.  Even the birds were singing and celebrating.

The Spring-like weather must have been the inspiration for “Babette” the Bunny who somehow came to life one evening after dinner.  No drawing – just started painting the eye and then splashing water and pink and orange and dabs of quin gold in the shape of a bunny.

And as for her name, it must have come from the hours of binge-watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix I’ve been doing since Christmas.

It was fun to create a Springy painting on a Springy February day.  Fingers crossed I’m not inspired to paint snowy landscapes in May the way our wacky weather has been this year!

Painting Spring

Spring Tulips in a Planter – 11×14 Watercolor Painting

While hubby was pounding and drilling and sawing,
I was painting and dreaming of the special place he is making.

And then I’d be called to hold or reach or retrieve,
while the soup was simmering and the laundry was tumbling.

And tulips bloomed on my paper and in my heart,
while we spent another blissfully ordinary Sunday in home sweet home.

Jodi

Illusion

Illusion.

Sometimes
creating an illusion

of what it should be,
or could be,
or would be….

is more beautiful,
and more interesting,
and more mysterious…

than the reality
of what it really is.

Seeing Red…

Not in the usual way we think of “seeing red,”
but in a happy, loose, free, floral kinda way!

What color are you “seeing” today?

Hope it is a happy one.

Jodi

Loose Yellow Sunflowers in Vase-watercolor-11×14-300-lb-arches

Our January weather has been so unseasonable.

PRO:  Above normal temperatures – one day this week was one degree away from the warmest day on record with temperatures in the 60s!

CON:  Instead of bright, white snow, we are having rain and grey cloudy days.

SOLUTION:  Paint loose happy yellow sunflowers!

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Reality

“Reality is what we take to be true.
What we take to be true is what we believe.
What we believe is based upon our perceptions.
What we perceive depends on what we look for.
What we look for depends on what we think.
What we think depends on what we perceive.
What we perceive determines what we believe.
What we believe determines what we take to be true.
What we take to be true is our reality.”

It was too wet to play.

Peace in Painting

Splashing water and paint
and creating something loose and lovely
and open to interpretation.

It has been a while since I’ve given myself
the luxury and gift of time to watercolor
with all the busyness of the holidays followed by the loss of my brother.

And what a lovely gift it was for me
to take just 15 or 20 minutes
and lose myself in the process of creativity.

It’s a wonderful thing to take time for yourself
and do something you love, because when you do,
you are a better person to be around.

Thanks to Andrew Geeson for his wonderful
inspiration of loose watercolor painting
that nudged me to do this.

Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
