Hang on…
or fly free?
Either way –
You can weather the storm!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Great image today Jodi, the little bird looks like he is hanging on tight. No storms here today so I’ll be flying free. Have a beautiful family day.

I love your photo. I’m hoping to sort out my difficulties with my new camera so that I can take similar shots of birds. The composition is perfect.

What a sweet comment. Thanks Carol, and good luck with your camera! I’m beginning my first photography class in a few weeks, and I’m super excited!

Lovely post! Jodi, what kind of bird is this? I don’t feel like I’ve ever seen one before. Yellow head and white everywhere else? Perfect January photo.

I think it is a gold finch in its winter coat

Hmm, the head looks wrong to me tho. Usually they turn drab in the winter. Almost like a drab olive. I’ve never seen one with white on the chest. I think you get birds in Mars that we don’t see!

You have a nice selection of birds!! We do have a bird book, maybe I’ll try and find it in there. Or maybe it really is a goldfinch?! Goldfinch is really a Steelers bird hehe.

We both looked at the bird book and can’t find it! It does have a black beak, right? Goldfinch has an orange beak. Not sure why I feel driven to identify this bird lol.

It looks like a Goldfinch to me! My son went back to campus today (and I didn’t see this until just now) so I can’t ask him.

Beautiful image Jodi. Its bitter cold here, in the negative numbers so we’ll be quiet and cuddle indoors.

Lovely photo and poem. I read in a comment that you are in Mars. Is that Mars, Pennsylvania? I have cousins that live (or used to live) there and I remember visiting the place when I was a kid. I got to shoot my first shotgun there! My dad grew up in McKeesport.

Oh and as far as the bird species. I consulted my Sibley’s guide, and it appears to be a first winter Blackburnian Warbler. Not 100% sure but it’s the closest one I could find in the book.

Very well could be a warbler! Thanks!!

Love it, Jodi! Love the bokah, the pop of color of the bird against the brown leaves and gray sky.

Sweet little bird ~ I’d guess some kind of warbler, but there are lots of different kinds.

Feeling about as fragile and storm-tossed as that little bird. Just wishing I had his plummage.

It was almost a white out when I took this – for about 15 minutes. So beautiful – but only on the inside looking out! Happy I wasn’t driving at that time.

Oh, goodness! I’m glad you weren’t driving then, too. That would have been really scary. Poor little freezing birdie, though… :}
