10 Year Dad & Daughter Reunion Anniversary
“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” ― Rumi
Ten years ago today was a very special day. You can read more about it here if you like.
In honor of this special day, I wanted to share a watercolor painting I created.
It started with a relaxing Sunday afternoon painting session where I just sat on the porch outside and painted from the heart to one of my favorite songs.
I had no idea what it was going to turn out to be, and I truly had no intention for what I was painting except to “feel” the music.
Sometimes I do these types of paintings and then “sit” on them for a while. I just let them “hang out,” and I glance at them every once in a while until something pulls me in and speaks to me.
And it did. It reminded me of the wound that was healed by the light that entered it.
It reminded me of the Journey back to Daddy’s girl.
And so I added the daddy and the little girl looking up into the sky…. into the light that healed the wound.
And it was complete.
It had spoken its purpose.
And I made it into a card to send to Dad.
Happy 10-Year Dad and Daughter Reunion Anniversary Day Dad!
“What a Difference You’ve Made in My Life.”
What a change you have made in my heart.
You replaced all the broken parts.
I love you.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi

Namaste, My Jodi! I saw this letter from you in Gem’s inbox after we visited Mr. Mike’s watercolor paintings. We were so happy to find your letter! Gem got all teary eyed when we were reading it together. She does that even when she is happy and not sad. I think it’s a girl thing, but boys can too if they want too. I just smiled cause this is an awesome story and neat video. I think the watercolor is so beautiful and special. Gem does too. Your Daddy must be so happy that you painted this for him. WNBHAK! That means “with neck-buster hugs and kisses” for you and Charlie too! Love, Benjamin!

I love the quote and the watercolor!! I remember back when you shared this touching story about finding your Dad again. And yes I did get teary eyed, then and now! I was a Daddy’s Girl and cannot imagine having grown up without his presence in my life. Happy 10th Anniversary to both of you! Thank-you!

My Dad life ( memories until I was 5 ) then not again, I was 25, he died when I was 28. My family just excommunicated him & never spoke, all in the Genuine & loving idea it was for my own good. I’m glad I had those few years & most oddly he was very very similiar to my father-in-law. I know how significent you feel about your re-connection with your dad, honestly your painting is beautiful, & there is a freeing of pain to have words for an (unexplained feeling that loomed anxiously creating doubts & fears ) that so silently impact our confidence & how we love wholly & feel loved. Today is my mother’s birthday she has been gone for 25 years, I realized, back when I was 26, she was still in love with him. So many “shades” to what we think we know, perspective changes everything. Speaking of shades I have to ask, what color blue did you use at the top of your painting ? It granulates beautifully.

So beautiful! I loved watching the paint spread on the paper, and how it spoke to you of your renewed relationship with your father. I’m so glad you two were able to connect after all those years…he did mend the broken pieces of your heart, and that’s an incredible gift!
